"...he's clearly a threat, and a pawn of the Devil King," Alderp finally said. "Execute him!"

Sena looked at him askance. "Sir, his disrespect aside, no one was harmed by his actions. I hardly think the death penalty is appro-" she was cut off by Alderp turning a glare on her, and her demeanor changed. "I'm sorry... You're right. The death penalty might be best," she stated in an almost robotic tone, making everyone shocked at just how quickly her opinion changed.

Ria and Kazuma's eyes narrowed, and they glanced at each other, wordlessly agreeing that something was amiss there.

The judge nodded, and said, "Very well. Defendant Kazuma Sato. In light of your numerous misdeeds, to say nothing of your total, indeed, sociopathic disregard for public safety, I find the prosecutor's recommendation to be appropriate, and I find you guilty, and sentence you to death."

"Bullshit!" Cremea, Fio, Aqua, Xylixia and Megumin raged, all of them gathering near Kazuma. Darkness was strangely quiet, as if contemplating something.

"This whole trial was a sham!" Cremea snarled, pulling out her mace.

Megumin meanwhile removed her eye patch, and declared, "If you're all so eager to brand Kazuma as a terrorist... How about I show you what terrorism really looks like!?" She started the incantation for Explosion.

"Guards, escort them out of the courtroom!" the judge ordered, but stopped short as Darkness suddenly stepped forward, holding up a fancy looking pendant.

"Your Honor, Lord Alderp, if I may..." she stated.

"You... Are you..." The judge asked, stunned as he stared at Darkness and the pendant.

"Please allow me to take charge of this trial. I will prove Kazuma's innocence. All I ask is for some time," Darkness requested with some authority in her tone.

"But... Even you can't..." the judge stammered.

"He's right! Even you don't have the power to make such a decision!" Alderp blustered.

"Lord Alderp, I would be in your debt," Darkness replied. "Name any one thing within my power, within reason, and I will grant it."

"...very well! I can't refuse a request from you!" Alderp declared. "We shall give this man a reprieve!"

"...what... Just happened?" Kazuma blinked.

"Isn't it obvious?" Ria sniggered nearby him. "Darkness is nobility... And obviously of a high enough station that even a lord can't carelessly offend..."

"...what!?" Kazuma demanded.
