Marvelous Day Off Pt 3

"Sorry!"

*Wham!*

"It's fine!" Walt told Gwenom as he punched another yellow heavily suited guy out. "Just don't let them raise that alarm!"

*Thwip! Thwip!*

She shot more webbing tying up the oddly suited figures rushing for a control panel while Walt engaged the last "guard". His opponent swung an energy weapon at him but he stepped into the swing trapping the mans arm. He then used the momentum to flip the man and disarm him.

"Need any help?" Gwenom asked as Walt started to choke him out.

Walt nodded. "Yeah. Tie up the others nice and secure?"

She nodded and started securing the other unconscious gaurds as Walt's struggling gaurd slowly started to lose consciousness himself. "Shhh... Bill," he told the man reading his name off his security card. "Go to sleep. That's it. Friday?"

(("No alarms have been raised. That card will give you and Gwen the necessary access you need, Boss."))

The man quit struggling and Walt double checked his vitals before releasing the hold. He dragged him over to the others so Gwenom could secure him as well taking the security card.

"Who are these people?" She asked remarking, "Weird suits."

Walt nodded. "A.I.M. or one of the iterations of them. Those weird uniforms though work well for us." He held up the access card. "They're still using these things instead of biometrics because of them."

Gwenom nodded. "Sorry I-"

"Not your fault," Walt said shaking his head. "Well not entirely... pretty sure my luck was responsible for this one. But it's not all bad. Believe it or not Janitor "Bill" there has the highest access card so it's a mixed bag." He looked at the guy and shook his head. "Second time today."

"What?" Gwenom asked.

Walt shrugged. "Déjà vu. I get the feeling his path and mine's have crossed a couple of times before. I wonder... nah. Not important right now." He waved a hand. "Come on."

Gwenom nodded following. "So they're bad guys?"

Walt nodded chuckling. "Yup. Notorious evil science group. Similar kinda bunch as Hydra. Sorry for doing this quick errand on a "day off" but it'll help Jen, I hope."

Gwenom shrugged. "It's fine. So what are we stealing? Super weapon? Power armor? Energy source?"

Walt keyed the door and they stepped into a large room with shelves and shelves of boxes. "Files," he said.

Gwenom blinked. "Seriously?"

Walt turned and nodded. "Information, my dear. Knowledge is the most powerful and precious thing one can have. You know that. It may not be exciting or exotic but-"

"No," she said nodding. "I get it. Really. Knowledge is power."

Walt nodded looking around. "This way." He pointed and handed her his glasses. "Should have done this awhile ago but I was waiting to bring you and Jubes your own pairs. I authorize level one access to Gwendolyn Stacy. Lose the mask or at least over your eyes, put them on, say hello and make friends, then do what Friday tells you please?"

Gwen nodded and did as instructed. Walt heard her say, "Okaaay... "Hello"?" Then gasp and happily say, "Hello Friday! It's very nice to finally meet you too..."

Walt smiled as he searched and started pulling out indicated documents that Friday pointed out, holding them so she could scan the data. He never got tired of people meeting Friday. He was very proud.

"Understood, Friday. Everything related to gamma tech," Gwen said pulling the files and doing the same as Walt. "Oh, is that so?" Gwen giggled. "How interesting! Thank you, Friday. That's good to know!"

Walt chuckled pulling the next file. "Enjoying making another friend, Fri?"

(("Indeed, Walter. I've been looking forward to meeting Ms Stacy for awhile now."))

Walt smiled. "Sorry. That's my fault. I really should have done it sooner. I just..."

(("You're a "decent" man, Walter. And I'm not just saying that as my creator and constant companion. You hold yourself to a higher moral standard than you expect of others... and while you try to blind yourself from prying to deeply into others you aren't actually blind. You are aware of Ms Stacy's feelings and the probable likely hood of her decision... because you gave her the decision. Just like, Ms Lee and Ms Walters. Ms Lee chose for herself. Ms Stacy and Ms Walters Will do the same and the likelyhood is-"))

"I know," he said putting another file back and taking another down. "I know. You're right... as usual. I can see it and I... I want that too, if I'm being honest... but most of all I want whatever is best for her. You know that."

(("Indeed, I do. You care. Which is what makes you unique and why you secretly hoped for both outcomes and dreaded the inevitability of either one. You're still, "human"... and a pretty good one, Boss."))

Walt chuckled. "Pretty good, eh? Always room for improvement?"

(("I'm not certain there is... not for "just a human". You really should-"))

"I'm still thinking about it," he said. "Amongst other things... right now I'm thinking reservations."

(("For you and Ms Stacy? Might I suggest something more "romantic" than hot dogs and hamburgers or sandwiches grabbed from a Bodega, Boss?"))

Walt chuckled. "You read my mind... get us a table for two somewhere nice while I ask?"

(("Of course."))

Walt smiled. "Gwen... would you happen to be free later? I'd like to thank you for helping me with this errand and I was thinking... dinner and drinks?"

Gwen blinked. Had he just asked her out on a date? He had! That wasn't like Walter at all! He'd often take them places and sometimes things were borderline "date like" but he never- "Yes! *ahem* I mean, sure... that sounds good to me!" She finished scanning the last couple of files trying to contain her excitement!

(("Ms Stacy, please hold the documents steadily for a brief moment."))

She blushed and tried to calm down. "Sorry, Friday."

"Good," Walt said. "Oh, what's your favorite food?"

Gwen blinked and looked up at him tilting her head. "Hot dogs. You know that..."

Walt chuckled. "That's right, I do." He whispered, "You heard the lady Friday. Hot dogs."

(("You two are ridiculous. Peas in a pod. Making reservations for two at one of the citys finest and most romantic hotdog eateries, Boss."))

Walt chuckled. "Your assistance is greatly appreciated."))
