Marvelous Day Off Pt 2

"I feel ridiculous!"

Walt smiled. "That maybe but it's working, my dear," he whispered.

"Now how about this one?" The salesperson, "Claire" her name tag read, asked indicating several particularly large beds. "These king sizes come in a variety of mattresses. The Wyoming, Texas and Alaskan kings would likely be the best fit for you Mr and Mrs Stark!" She beamed at Walt wearing his glasses and Jen who was wearing his mask.

"Eh he heh... we're not-" Jen started saying but Walt grabbed her hand lovingly and kissed it. "What do you think, Darling?"

"D-darling?!" Jen said. "Wha-"

Meanwhile Gwen and Jubilee engaged the Saleslady Claire.

"You'll have to forgive our parents," Gwen said looking at Jubilee. "Right?"

Jubilee nodded and rolled her eyes trying not to laugh as she held Shogo. "Oh yeah! They're always like this! Carrying on like a couple of lovestruck youngsters and flirting all the time! Super embaressing!"

Claire smiled though. "You ladies might think so but it's refreshing to see. They're still and love and it's kept them young at heart. Why look at your baby brother? The two of you turned out petite but he's so big! Obviously going to grow up to be well over 6' like your folks!"

Shogo giggled.

Claire nodded. "Your mother hardly looks a day over 30! Obviously the power of a happy marriage and family!"

Walt nudged Jen who fake laughed holding his arm. "That's us," she said through gritted teeth. "We're so in love!"

Gwen chuckled. "So in love they broke the bed!"

Jubilee snickered. "So we need something "durable" Understand?"

Jen's grip on Walter's arm was crushing. Walt laughed nervously. "Okay girls... that's enough teasing your mother and I about it, don't you think? Hmmmm?"

Claire blushed but nodded smiling. "Don't worry! We have some excellently sturdy options. We want you to be comfortable and that starts with quality furniture! And I think I know just the mattress!" She led them over to a matress with a familiar looking smiling orange guy with crossed arms cardboard cutout. "This here's the Fantastic Mattress™️! Capable of supporting the weight of large individuals and our second strongest mattresses endorsed by none other than Ben Grimm of Fantastic Four fame! Most folks find it's just "The Thing" they need! Why a person who weighs 500lbs will find this matress both comfortable and... resiliant..." she sees them shaking their heads. "No good? Oh dear... well... not to worry!"

She chuckles nervously. "We do have one sturdier option but there's rarely call for it." She leads them over to another mattress with a bigger familiar green man making a muscle pose cardboard cutout. "The Hulk Mattress!™️" she says. "When strength and resilience as well as comfort are a must this mattress can't be beat! Capable of supporting individuals upwards of 1400 lbs comfortably!" She sees them smile and nod. She's surprised but the customers are always right. "Why don't you try lying on some of these while I check which ones we have in stock?"

Walt smiled. "Thank you Claire. We'll do that!"

They watch her bustle away and then Gwen and Jubilee laugh. "Go on "Mom"! Try a few of them out!"

Jen growled. "Sorry I weigh so much! You better watch it brats or I'll take you both over my knee and give you a spanking!"

Jubilee pouted. "But daddy! Mommy can't do that! My ass is still sore from earlier..."

Walt turned extremely red as did Gwen and Jen. Walt growled. "Ok enough or I seriously will let her spank you after I do!"

Jubilee laughed and stuck her tongue out. "Promises, promises... come on Gwen! We'll let the 'rents do their thing!"

Jen sighed. "So humiliating!"

Walt smiled and patted her arm. "Look at it this way. The masking effect built into the mask works! Nobody's batting an eye at you for being big and green. I'm the one they're looking at cause folks round these parts don't see a lot of 6' 6" Cowboys. The mask makes them see you but see you as "unremarkable" and "hard to remember clearly" while it disrupts cameras and other devices so you go unnoticed."

Jen smiled. "That's true... and you say you can get one for me to use?"

Walt nodded. "I already got my guy making more as we speak. I know it's a bit silly but it works."

Jen nodded. "Well I guess we better "try" the beds so we look like a married couple, "darling"."

Walt chuckled and nodded. "Yes, darling."

A few beds fit them but only the upper range of large beds would be big enough once pillows blankets and everything else was factored in. Laying next to Jen on one of the largest that would comfortably fit someone of his and her heights He said, "It's very firm."

Jen blushed. "Sorry it's the downside of being a "Hulk" my body weight is extremely dense and heavy. It must be uncomfortable-"

"I like it," Walt stated.

Jen blinked. "Really?"

Walt nodded. "I think I want one myself."

Jen turned her head to look at him. "You're joking?"

"I'm not," he assured her. "I prefer firm mattresses... as a soldier and a cowboy before that and later on as an adventurer I got too used to sleeping on the ground. If a mattress is too soft it's uncomfortable to me. I'd rather sleep on the floor than something like that."

Jen smiled. "Huh? I didn't know that. You know I hear Steve Rogers has the same problem."

Walt nodded. "I know. A lot of guys do who've gotten used to something. It's hard to change back."

Jen thought about that. "Hey Walt?"

"Yes, Jen?" He said.

"How did I get to bed the other night?" She asked.

"I carried you in," he said. "It wasn't any trouble."

She blushed. That couldn't be right... could it? She was a bit taller and definitely weighed weigh more. It had to have been difficult! But... she didn't sense any deception in him. Not that she was perfect at it but as a lawyer she'd developed a sense for detecting it. He seemed... genuine as usual. *It's one of his best traits,* she thought. "Thank you, Walt," she said.

She felt his hand take hers and squeeze it as he turned his head and smiled looking into her beautiful green eyes set in her lovely face. "You're very welcome. But I'm the one who should be saying that and... I'm sorry that things got so messed up. I'd do anything for you, Jen."

She felt her heartbeat skip looking into his blue eyes. His little hand squeeze. She gently squeezed back watching his handsome smile.

She thought about that though. He was different from her that way. He was strong and powerful, apparently incredibly so, but he took great steps to limit it. He didn't need strength and power to be confident like she had. He just was... and oddly humble about it. *That confidence is sexy,* she thought. *Not the BS and bravado that I run into a lot of. But quiet, gentle confidence. He knows strength is my thing but unlike others he doesn't directly challenge it. He accepts it. He touches me gently, because that's how he WANTS to touch me. Not hurting me was one of his biggest priorities the other night. It's a bit ridiculous but that's who he is as a person with the people he cares about.*

He cared about her already. He accepted She-Hulk and Jennifer and the combined whole that they made up as Jen. Infact it was important to him to respect and acknowledge all of her facets. She liked that.

She smiled back. She liked him. More and more he was growing on her.

"Get a room you two," Jubilee said walking past dragging Gwen along.

Jen and Walt both laughed. They sat up and nodded.

"This mattress?" Walt asked her.

Jen nodded. "This mattress... and you should get one for yourself too if you like it."

Walt nodded back and squeezed her hand once more before letting go. Spotting the Saleslady he asked. "Claire? Which of the Hulk Mattress™️ beds are available in stock?"

Walt sighed. "Of course."

Jubilee grinned. "Something wrong?"

Walt shook his head and gave a slight chuckle looking at the enormous bed the three ladies were sprawled out on. "No... just a feeling of déjà vu. It's not exactly the same but it's close to the one I have at home."

Gwen laughed. "Seriously?"

Walt nodded. "Seriously. It was decided I needed a larger bed to... accommodate everyone."

Jen raised her eyebrow while Jubilee laughed. "Some of the others are my size?"

Walt shook his head. "Not exactly."

Jubilee giggled. "He means they all cuddle up together... amongst other things!"

Walt cleared his throat. "Yes well... I don't want anyone to feel... left out. The uh, schedule rotation was becoming problematic. It lead to other different problems though."

Gwen stared and blushed. "Oh."

Walt shook his head. "Uhm no... probably not the one you're thinking of... it was hard for me to get out of in the morning. I was trapped in a way. No we have to schedule assistants to help me escape as a "morning duty"... I'm an early riser and I don't need to sleep much."

Jubilee laughed and grabbed his hand. "Then get this one!"

Walt sighed. "Why? It's a bit excessive for just the two of us, isn't it?"

She sighed. He was being dense again... and she had the feeling sometimes he did it on purpose. Likely trying to delude himself. But she had his number! She smiled. "Please? I want to get used to it... and if anything ever happens to your bed at home you've got a spare... and if you and the others ever come to visit it'd make them feel a bit at home here, wouldn't it?"

Walt sighed. "Friday?"

(("It'll just fit... but only if you move into the master bedroom of the old Graymalkin mansion estate. You'll have to give up sleeping in one of the teachers rooms."))

Walt chuckled. "Well alright then. I guess we're taking over Chuck's old room."

The girls laugh. That had been easier then expected. They had a good time shopping around for more "sturdy" furniture for home.
