Jamie’s turn (Side Deck: Gear, Advanced Adaptation)

As Jamie reached for a card his Token was able to move almost as easily and quickly as the Snow Leopard token had. The Token walked forward, with calculated steps, five spaces. As Jamie flipped over the card everyone froze as it was green, a different color than any before.

“Side Deck - Gear: For the rest of the game any player may draw from the side deck from their second card onwards unless otherwise stated. Cards from this deck will always be related to gear in some way. Move five. Draw one, Main deck.” Jamie read out after he recovered from the terror of finding a new colored card.

Immediately afterwards another deck appeared on the board like it had always been there with the back of the cards reading GEAR while the cards everyone had been drawing from had changed to have MAIN written on the back. Both were written in plain black ink on the board but the card in the player's hand had different hues depending on the type of card.

“If we had any doubts that the game was magic, I’m sure that dispelled them, right?” Calvin asked rhetorically with a devious grin recovering from his earlier embarrassment.

“Shut up,” everyone else said in unison as Jamie went to grab his second card, with his token walking forward another space and the card’s definer turning a vibrant red displaying its nature as a punishment card, while flipping it over displayed a background of gears bathed red.

“Advanced Adaptation: Your body will acclimate to different negative situations and stimuli much faster than a normal human, while reacting more strongly to positive stimuli; you are also able to adapt to much more **** situations and environments. Move one. End turn. Permanent. This is a warning to play properly.” Jamie read and was relieved that nothing too bad happened.

Before the game fully shut down for the night Jamie tried to apologize for them not using the right tokens.

“I promise we will play properly, we didn't know we were supposed to only use the pieces in the box,” Jamie said to the board, after he put down his card with the other understanding what he was doing followed suit.

“We are really sorry, we will play properly,” everyone said to the board as Jamie’s token stopped moving and all the tokens seemed to fuse with the board all of the tokens seeming to give a slight nod.

“The game seemed to accept our apology. Right?” Bernard asked.

“I think it did,” Sam said.

While the others were trying to come to a conclusion about if the game forgave them or not Jamie went to the kitchen and took out his phone and called his brother Ralph. After going to voicemail a few times Ralph finally picked up the phone.

“Who is it and what do you want?” Ralph asked, a bit groggy and definitely irritated.

“Hey, it's Jamie and I was just wondering if you know anything about a game called Male Paradise?” Jamie asked, hoping he could get the help of someone who played the game before.

“Don’t play it whatever you do!” Ralph yelled any trace of tiredness and anger was gone, replaced with fear and worry.

“Already too late for that, I’m calling because we have already started playing,” Jamie said, and he just heard a long sigh through the phone.

“I’m just guessing that you are at the Lake house, I’ll be there by noon tomorrow, do not do anything stupid and break the rules of the game. I repeat DO NOT BREAK THE RULES OF THE GAME. Even if it means you have to go another round before I get there or if it goes against what any of you want,” Ralph said, stressing not to break the rules of the game, before hanging up.

When Jamie returned to the game room everyone was already tired himself included and they went to their rooms. Jamie and Calvin went to their private rooms on the third floor, while the couples Oscar and Kevin went to their shared guest room on the second floor, and Sam and Bernard went to their shared guest room on the first floor.
