A curious exchange, I think, and decide to stick around to see if she does anything else interesting. Maybe I just did it wrong. I plop down onto the couch opposite Rachel's chair and my sister makes an exasperated sound.

"Don't," she warns.

Then it hits me. I wrote it to only apply to people watching the TV. I turn my face to the screen and watch for a few seconds. Some young people are arguing on screen. I don't really care who they are. But then, against all odds, the TV remote flies across the room and strikes the back cushion of the couch with a muffled thud.

Rachel crosses her arms grumpily and settles in deeper to her chair. "Don't you dare change it. This is so stupid. Typical man."

I pick up the remote. Well, if that's not proof, I have no idea what is. Rachel has never ever given that TV remote to anyone without a massive fight over it.
