A dungeon crawl?

"Oh, you're reading the tale of Khiel, the Arch Wizard?" Megumin asked Kazuma over breakfast. Kazuma looked up from the book he was reading. As Megumin had suggested, he had been reading about an Arch Wizard who had fallen in love with a daughter of a noble family, but their stations in life were too different, and he supposedly was offered a boon by the king.

"The tale doesn't really say how his story ended," Darkness remarked. "Some say he absconded with the noble daughter and built a dungeon, but even Khiel couldn't stand against the whole nation."

"That dungeon is supposedly nearby, novice adventurers use it for training," Megumin replied.

"Yeah, we went there a couple of times with Kyouya," Cremea remarked. "It was pretty good training. Still, at our level, we'd have to spend some time in there to gain another." Indeed, Cremea was level 32 now... Just eight away from getting her goal of reaching the Dragon Knight class.

"Still, we could go with you, dungeon crawls do need a thief after all," Fio suggested.

"I was about to suggest Kazuma ask Chris if he wanted to go, but that is a good point, he does have you," Aqua remarked, warming herself by the fire. It was still pretty wintery right now after all.

"I dunno, I could probably handle it myself," Kazuma mused, leaning back in his chair. "Chris did teach me some skills like Detect Trap and Detect Treasure... I also learned Second Sight from Keith, so I can see in the dark. And if I encounter something too tough to face, I do still have Lurk..."

"The dungeon might already be cleared out in terms of treasure though," Cremea replied. "We didn't have much luck in that regard the times we went, it was solely for training, and what we could nab from monsters. By the way, I wanted to make an offer for you."

"Oh?" Kazuma asked.

"I was thinking of teaching you the Endure Skill," Cremea replied. "If you had that when you encountered General Winter, you wouldn't have been decapitated and died from one stroke from him, and might have been able to resume bowing right after."

Kazuma blinked. That was an excellent point. She was clearly concerned he might get in over his head again, and Endure could be an invaluable safety net... Why hadn't he asked to learn it sooner? "You need to use the skill to teach it to me though right? How would you do so?"

"Well, after the dungeon crawl, we could have Megumin use Explosion on me, then you could see Endure in action... And YES Darkness, you can stand next to me when that happens," she added with a sigh as she saw Darkness perk up.

"It's not like we'll be going anyway," Megumin remarked. "Explosion is useless in dungeons."

"And low level monsters are unable to do much to me, so I'm out too," Darkness added.

"So it can just be the three of us, I teach you Endure, get healed by Aqua, and we go in, how does that sound?" Cremea asked Kazuma, who considered it.
