Maybe it's Not a Horoscope

I let the remote spin as I do my business, checking it after washing my hands.

Weird. Like... a popstar? The only other definition of idol I can think of is a religious artifact, but that doesn't make any sense to be an identity.

Ok, this remote is definitely pulling random phrases to display. I don't think Luna has ever listened to K or J-pop. She might be able to recognize Miku, but she just wasn't that kind of nerd. Anyway, I've spent too long standing around in this bathroom.

I slip the remote in my pocket again and head back to the table. Luna is at the table, typing on her phone and jotting down something on the notepad we were using to keep score.

"Hey Andy, do you still have that guitar from when we were younger?"

"Ummm, I think so?" I sit down as I think about where that old electric might be. "It's probably still at my folks place. Why? I might remember how to play Smoke on the Water, but it's been years."

Luna laughed and pushed the notepad over to me. It's got some brands, prices, and ratings scribbled on it. "No, I'm thinking about learning to play! My roommate Sam majored in music production, I'll ask him to teach me."

"So... when did you decide this? I thought you were doing those card game events."

"Yeah, that's only one night a week if there's not a tournament. I'll be able to do music on my own! I just thought of it today, actually just a moment ago. I just know I want to learn about music!" The buzzer on the table goes off, signaling that our food is ready. I grab it and head to the counter to grab the meals.

Sudden interest in music, eh? That's just like what the remote said. I'm concerned that maybe this new hobby isn't entirely natural.

Dinner goes smoothly, Luna spends some more time looking at music shops online before deciding to borrow her roommates gear until she's ready to invest further. When she puts on her earbuds to listen to a review video, I take a chance on looking at the remote again.

Then it pulls up the data on her "identity" from earlier. Definitely reads as though it's shifting her identity to include being an idol. Looks like there's some sort of upgrade system to these roles, good to note for later.
