The first day

The next day I secure Chloe's apartment before departing for her boy friend's house. Its about 15-20 miles away so I decided to split the trip into 2 days, after all the city is heavily populated and I have to approach this stealthily. With no map I can only estimate the distance and direction. However, I do know about a shopping mall on the way, while it is probably infested with zombies its got the best chance for me to find water purification tablets and supplies.

Delaying no further I ventured out into the city. It took me about 4 hours to finally reach the shopping mall. Scouting around a bit I can see it is crawling with zombies. I decided to draw them out and lose them in the nearby park before entering to make sure I dont encounter too many in inclosed spaces. The tactic worked out perfectly I draw out at least a few dozen zombies from the entrance ensuring save passage inside. As most zombies are quiet slow I was able to easily lose them.

The mall is not very big but there is an out door supply store which will yield valuable gear and possibly guns. I successfully sneaked my way inside avoid large hordes and killed all of the zombies that can't be avoided. The out door supply store is in suprisingly good condition. I am able to find the water treatment tablets I needed and I found some nice windbreakers that will provide good protection against both the elements and zombie bites. Fortunately, there is a gun section with a nice selection of weapons. Considering I can already right small groups of zombies reliably I choose to pick up a shotgun so that I can deal with larger hordes in emergency situations. I picked out a one that looked extra sturdy and packed a few boxes of buck shots along with it. Some other stuff that I picked up are some water resistant matches and compressed biscuits.

With all the looting done and my backpack pretty much full I settle out to find a place to stay the night. The security room turned out to be a great place. Its got a strong door and no windows for the zombies to sneak in. I cleared the nearby area and settle down for the night.
