Quite well, with a bit of silliness.

Touya squinted at the book Linze held before him. Thus far, he had managed to memorize the characters in the alphabet the people in this area of this world used, and what sounds they were supposed to make. It was odd that the spoken language seemed to be the same, but the written language was different, come to think of it, but it made learning easier than he had expected. Still, he had Linze walk him through reading out spell names and descriptions when he struggled.

"Many of these just seem like mundane utilities, like fixing splintered wood?" he remarked.

"Yeah, Null magic is wildly varied," Linze explained. "Not all of it is useful to people on quests..."

"I suppose not... How about this one?" he mused. "Aports... A spell to draw small objects to your hand..." He gave it a try, initially trying to surprise Yae by grabbing one of her katana. When that failed, he reasoned it wasn't a small enough object, so then went for her hair ribbon.

"Eh!?" Yae shouted as her hair was freed from the ribbon as it flew to Touya's hand. "...um, can I have that back?" she asked.

"Sorry, was just practicing magic here," Touya smirked as he handed it back over.

"That spell is a pretty heavily desired one by thieves," Elize noted. "Can you imagine what pickpockets could do with it?"

"Or perverts," Touya chuckled. "Imagine someone snatching underwear with the spell..." Immediately, Elize and Linze retreated to a corner of the wagon, though Linze was considering letting Touya do so as his reward for his progress. "...I was kidding," he chuckled.
