"Well... You see... It's like this," Kazuma said after he and Aqua gave each other a nod. "There are multiple worlds right? When someone dies, they have the option of going to heaven, or reincarnating as a baby in their own world... Or, they can come to this world, with all of their memories intact. The reason for this is because no one who dies here is willing to to reincarnate here, so the gods and goddesses decided to act, and send people here to try and save this world. And they give those who choose that option a special power or weapon of their choice to ensure they can make a difference. Say a magic blade, or a special spell."

"Okaaaay... Where are you going with this Kazuma?" Darkness asked curiously.

"I'm getting there. Well, say someone died in their homeworld, and upon reaching the part of the afterlife where they make their choice, they met the goddess who handles the whole procedure, who turns out to be a total jerk who won't stop making fun of them," Kazuma continued, making Aqua pout. "They chose to come to this world, but when choosing their cheat item, well... Said goddess pissed them off enough that they ended up choosing her as said cheat item. Plus, they thought it was clever, having a literal goddess on their side, having no idea just how much trouble she would turn out to be..."

"Wait a second..." Fio realized. "Are you saying..."

"Yep... I'm, talking about myself and Aqua here," Kazuma replied. "She ended up being **** into a mortal body by the rest of her pantheon, and cast down into this world with me as I made my decision... They seemed pretty eager to do it too..."

Silence. "...so... That holy power Beldia mentioned that he was searching for... Was actually Aqua when she came with you?" Megumin asked.

"I'm... Actually reconsidering what I said earlier... Even by our standards, that's pretty far fetched," Fio stated.

"Well, of you don't believe us, you can ask Kyouya next time you see him," Kazuma crossed his arms. "He comes from the same world as me, and his cheat item is that sword of his... Aqua sent him to this world ahead of me..."

"...that... WOULD explain why he treated her with such reverence, kept calling her Aqua-sama," Cremea realized. "And wanted her in our party so bad... Well, HIS party now..."

"Not to mention how he had Gram from the start," Fio added. "Such a weapon is usually gained by experienced adventurers... I had assumed he inherited it or something..."

"...so... How DID you die?" Megumin asked Kazuma.

"Oh, you're going to just LOVE this story!" Aqua brightened up. "You see, he-" She froze as Kazuma, exuding a positively demonic aura, grabbed her by the top of her head.

"Tell them that story, and I swear to you and the rest of your pantheon, I will come up with a **** that will make mine look positively BADASS in comparison, and inflict it upon you," he growled.

Despite sweating profusely, Aqua tried to be confident and call his bluff. "N-no way you could pull THAT off, that's not a humiliation that can be topped..." she chuckled, failing to hide her nervousness.

Kazuma quirked a brow. "You think so? I killed a griffin with a broken blade and two starter spells at level nine. I used a dragon's own ice breath against it with another starter spell, AND came up with the tactics that allowed us to beat it. I brought down a troll with another combo of starter spells. And not even an hour ago, I tricked one of the Devil King's most powerful underlings with some quickly invented bullshit. You really wanna bet against my ability to get creative? Then by all means... try me."

Aqua was frozen in comical fear as the rest of the girls took a step back from the two, nervous. Even Darkness didn't seem to want any part of that. "...ah... I seem to have forgotten how Kazuma died!" Aqua stated with **** cheer. "Ah well, guess we'll never know!"

"Good choice," Kazuma nodded, releasing her head.

"...you know Kazuma, on paper, you're the weakest member of this party..." Cremea shuddered. "...and yet, I think out of all of us, you're the scariest one here... And that's with a mad bomber among us..."
