It's a blessing in a very good disguise.

'Shit, those eagle eyes must have seen the blast coming at the last moment, and it was able to get out of the epicenter of the blast radius, reducing the damage it took!' Kazuma realized frantically as he on instinct threw Megumin as far from himself as possible, hopefully out of harm's way. He drew his sword, and raised it up to defend himself.

The griffin reached him, and swiped with its talons at him, breaking his sword, leaving only half a foot of metal from the hilt still attached, and leaving several gashes on his chest. He was thrown to the ground by the **** of the blow, and the griffin was on him, about to peck his head off. Thinking fast, he acted. "Create Earth! Wind Breath!" The spells first created a handful of dirt, then he blew it right into the griffin's keen eyes. It shrieked and recoiled at the attack on its most valuable sense, and Kazuma took his chance.

He leapt up, and drove the remains of his broken blade into the beast's neck. He and monster were both still for a moment, before he pulled the broken weapon free, and the griffin collapsed, bleeding out. "...holy shit, that was close..." Kazuma panted, falling on his ass, and feeling his heart rate on his chest. Yep, his heart was really going...

"Kazuma!" Aqua shouted as she ran over. "Are you alright?"

Blood spurted from one of the deeper gashes on Kazuma's chest as if on cue. "Urgh! Do I look alright? Don't you know a healing spell or something?"

"Oh, right!" Aqua realized. "Heal!" Kazuma blinked, and felt his injuries closing up. Hell, even his blood seemed to replenish.

"...huh. Guess you can be useful after a- Umph!" he was cut off by Aqua immediately hugging him, or rather, his head, putting his face right into her tits.

"I thought you were done for!" she cried comically as he struggled in her grasp for air, though he was also enjoying it. Probably her perverted act of the day, but he'd take it, on the condition that he didn't asphyxiate.

"Gonna have to get a new sword," Kazuma looked mournfully at his broken blade after the party had returned. "I mean, it WAS a starter weapon, but still..." At least the money from the quest would more than cover a new weapon, and he got a LOT of EXP from killing a high level monster like a griffin, he had jumped up four levels to 13. Not exactly a lucky number, but he'd take it.
