And the divorce is fast.

Not long after John filed for divorce, and a member of Mr. Gamble’s firm handled the case with John out of the country.

Jane didn’t fight it and there wasn’t much to split up as they had only been together a short time. When infidelity and neglect came in John admitted it, attending on a virtual call, just to speed things up.

Jane was given alimony for a year to help her to get going on her own, and that was it. As clean a split as was usually seen with their country’s laws.

Mr. Gamble kept the beautiful black assistant on retainer for a year as well, to smooth the transition, but when he cut her loose (with a severance, a law degree and a job at an important law firm) she decided to stay with John, having developed feelings for him.

Jane lived with Mr. Gamble, so her costs were low. She discussed her options, maybe working as a stripper, but that was something Mr. Gamble wasn’t interested in at all.

“Jane, I’m not going to tell you how to live your life,” Zachary replied when she brought it up. “But you aren’t like the women we hire at that club. You have more beauty than they could imagine, you would make a great deal of money, but you are more than they are. Such a job would be a tremendous waste of your potential…”

They didn’t argue, he just assured her that she could do as she felt she needed to, and that bills and costs were not something that mattered to her at all. He had more than enough resources to live many lifetimes without any troubles, she would not find herself in need as long as she knew him.

So Jane went back to her day to day life. She didn’t even spend the money John sent her in alimony, it sat in the bank. Zachary Gamble set up her various expenses on his bank account, and gave her a debit card on an account with so much in it she could have bought a Lamborghini and not made a dent in it.

But she didn’t, Jane wasn’t in it for lavish living, she just wanted to enjoy life. Zachary offered her any car she wanted and she said no, he then offered her a luxury car with a driver and she said no as well. It was an absurdly lavish Mercedes, and it didn’t fit her at all.

Instead Jane bought a cute little scooter. It wasn’t anything special, but it got her where she needed to go, and in her mind it wasn’t taking advantage of Mr. Gamble.

Jane spent her nights in Mr. Gamble’s bed, at his house or in his apartment, wherever his businesses took him that night. And when he traveled, she traveled with him, and she enjoyed it.

During the day, she went where she pleased, and she went back about her life. In the gym five days a week, sometimes six, in dance class, and in yoga. She was already young and quite fit, and she got even more fit.

A young woman of stunning beauty, her body seemed to be perfect, but she kept working at it.

Now free of marriage, Jane started playing around a lot more. She started fucking her fitness coach at the gym, a very large and well built black man, and she began a heated lesbian affair with her yoga coach, a woman who used to be her cheer coach in high school.

For Jane, life was going quite well. But there were times she couldn’t sleep, she felt like she was spinning her wheels, that she wasn’t making a difference in the world. That if she weren’t there that nobody would notice.

Jane began thinking about who she had been when she and John hadn’t been together. Her time with her uncle, and her time with the elderly priest in their town. She began to wonder what could have been had things been different.
