Start at the Beginning Pt 16

"It's an interesting proposal you bring before the council today and-"

"Wait, a moment please," said Colossus looking at Walt slowly grinning. "Is that... my shirt? Da! You look good! Is blast from the past, yes?"

There's some laughter mostly from Colossus, Nightcrawler and Storm. Walt laughed as well. He was happy to see them too. "I took an unplanned for dip in the pool. I hope you don't mind Piotr?"

Piotr waved his hand. "Nyet! What is mine, is yours... Logan may not feel the same way about his jacket though you can take that up with him!" Piotr laughed. "I feel the same way about the mansion. You helped save it and you are trying to help mutants. I approve."

Nightcrawler laughed too. "I agree with Piotr, completely. Seeing you makes me happy old friend and you look "dated" but also good. You helped Jubilee. I vote approval as well."

Storm also smiled. "You are happy sight to see old friend." The Goddess smiled fondly and Walt did too. "I agree with my colleagues making the Summer table unanimous in its vote."

*Three down,* Walt looked at the other nine.

Black Priestess, Exodus and Mystique confer amogst themselves and finally nod. Mystique stands. "Seeing as he's neither a full mutant nor a recognized citizen of Krakoa. The Winter table votes unanimously against."

Walt sighed but he figured the Winter "bad guys" would oppose the Summer "good guys" on general principles... and he was right. He smiled at them anyway and Mystique in particular who ignored him. He thought about his Mystique at home and wondered idly a moment how Villain-anon had gone for the ladies.

That just left Spring and Autumn. He watched the Black King, Red Queen and White Queen discuss a long while it didn't look like Sebastián Shaw wanted too but listening to Emma point out various reasons while Kitty gave him smile he returned and joined in pointing out the benefits. Walt smiled seeing that. He might not be fond of seeing her with them but Kitty holding her own with those two? Yeah that made him smile.

Finally all three nodded and Emma Frost rose. "The Spring table agrees as Mr. Stark has presented a sound proposal for the business of Krakoa. By getting involved in the worlds current business technological problems with a "mutant" solution it benefits Krakoa and mutant kind by raising the publics opinion of mutants and Krakoa both. Unanimous vote of approval."

Kitty gave Walt a wink and he nodded. Good on you, girl. That just meant he needed one vote from Autumn. Either Irene Adler, Hope Summers or Xavier himself.

Hope immediately jumped up. "I vote against," she declared and sat back down.

Walt wasn't surprised. When Jubilee had contacted the X-Men to tell them about it it had been one of the current co-leaders who had vouched for him to the council. None other than Jean herself! Walt and her had been happy to see each other. But then Scott had shown up and kurt had let the cat out of the bag avoit the past. Walt wasn't sure what he'd expected but it hadn't been for Scott to laugh and then shoot his mouth off and punch him. Walt had punched back and long story short Scotty wouldn't be eating solid foods for awhile.

Walt couldn't feel bad. Ororo was about to zap his stupid ass. *You should be thanking me, Scott,* he thought.

Well that left Irene and Chuck. Apparently Charles had been through some personal dying and resurrecting himself lately.

And as usual Charles wasn't thrilled that he still couldn't read Walts mind. They'd always gotten along but there'd always been that standoff between them. Probably too many bad experiences with Magento. Walt had always been a friend and ally when he could... but would Charles let him set up camp in his house?

And Irene... stared at Walt the whole time. Another back from the dead character.

As much as Walt had loved comicbooks the major titles threw death around too lightly until it became this side of silly sometimes. Death should never be treated that way! And he should know. It's also why this was one of the first places he searched for ways to bring back the dead. Walt was an expert on death.

Irene finally stood and said simply "Against. There are too many variations to predict," before retaking her seat. Walt nodded. She couldn't predict the outcomes. He figured as much. He'd already made an alternate 65 in Gwen's reality by getting involved. It was his luck. He didn't blame her. His being here was probably giving the poor lady a headache.

He looked at Charles. If he voted against it would come to a tie. He wasn't sure how that went. Did they let Krakoa vote for itself in those instances or-

Charles spoke up. "It has many merits but I propose a question if I may?"

Walt nodded. "Of course Chuck. Go ahead."

He thought he saw Xavier smile. Few people ever called him that except for Logan and himself. "Krakoa and this council opperate under three guiding principles. Respect the sacred land of Krakoa, Murder no man and finally Make more mutants. Would you consider becoming a mutant?"

Walt smiled and shook his head. "You mean simply for your political gain? So I could then gain support of the Council and Krakoa? A deal and a bargain struck? No."

Charles smiled. "Then if you accept the title as simply honoray as a gift, I see no reason to object."

Walt laughed. "One has nothing to do with the other? And if I still refused?"

Charles waved his had. "I vote approval. Officially. If you had said yes before, I would have voted against. It's not something that can be bargained with nor should trust be given a person like that. And while it's been some time in all the time I've known you you've been a supporter of mutant rights. And you just showed your quality as a friend of mutants by refusing to cheapen that. The motion is carried. Please use the mansion and accept?"

Walt nodded. "Seems we have a deal! Now that that's out of the way Kat, Em, Sebas lets talk business!" He was pretty sure he saw Emma and Sebastián eyes twitch but they nodded as Kitty pushed them towards a meeting room smiling. "We'll be in here!"

Piotr, Ororo and Kurt came to shake hands as Gwen and Jubilee high-fived.

Kurt sighed. "Sorry about earlier. Me and my big mouth... just so you know I'm planning on resigning. Being on the council doesn't suit me."

Walt shook his hand and head. "You do whatever you think best my friend... and there's nothing to be sorry about. Scott shouldn't have overreacted like that."

Piotr agreed and so did Storm and Jean. "If anyone's sorry here it's me," she said but everyone objected.

"The past is the past," Ororo said. "And you should not be made to feel about the things in it! Not with anyone!" Ororo gave Jean a significant look and she smiled nodding her head.

Piotr laughed "and if he ever needs reminding Jean you just slug him in the jaw! Boom!"

Everyone laughed and Jean hugged them including Walt. "It's not totally his fault-"

Walt shock his head squeezing her tight. "Excuses are like assholes Jeannie... Scotty doesn't get to use his to be a jerk and shoot his mouth off! I'd done the same to Logan or anyone pulling that crap!"

She kissed his cheek then lightly tapped it with her fist. "You're just saying that because his jaws made of adamantium!"

"You do know Logan, Jean and Scott are a polyamourus couple, right?" Jubilee asked.

Walt blinked. "Well I do now!" Everyone laughed. "Well shit, couldn't have told me that earlier Firecracker? Oh, well! He's really lucky I punched him then! Ole Wolvermean would've torn his head off!" They all laughed.

Walt looked at Jean. "Tell Scott I'm sorry for me? I'll come visit and make it up to him when I get the chance. I don't want any bad blood or feelings about the past."

Jean nodded. "I will. He's been better... I'll remind him that being stressed out is no excuse for his behavior. You know it's funny? Wolverine is settling down and Scott's the one starting to "act up" these days."

Walt fake groaned. "Must be the end times!" They laughed."All right I gotta go talk shop with KitKat, Em and Sebas!"

"You do lnow they hate those nicknames, right?" Kurt asked.

"That's why he uses them you!" Jubilee told him laughing.

Walt grinned. "KitKat only pretends to hate it. But those other two? Yep!"
