An odd take away

There is a moment that I see Jenny look at me and there is a hint of love that we have had all the time, quickly diminished by the greater sense of love that I see she has for Nathanial when her focus shifts to him. "Before I say anything I think Jenny has something to say." He gestures to her to start with his hand.

"I do believe that I have unfairly been ignoring you in our relationship baby. I want to... no, I will work on that." She stops to correct herself before completing her statement. The feeling of actually being heard and taken serious is overwhelming. I finally feel like I am an equal again with Jenny. "But I do not want to stop being friends with Nathanial, and I feel as my boyfriend you should take an interest with my friends. I want you to be friends with Nathanial, I feel like the two of you would get along so well." There is the turn that I have come to expect. I get a little something while she gets more of something she wants. But I guess if I am suppose to get some attention, being friends with Nathanial might not be the worst? Already Jenny's voice is sounding in my head with, 'do you really want to lose me over befriending my ex?'

The choice is clear for me. "I... guess that I could spend some time to know and hang out with Nathanial. I love you Jenny and I want us to work this all out."

"Now I know that you have a better pet name for Jenny. She told me so I think to really show your commitment, always call her by that." Nathanial says, why did she have to tell him about that? It feels even weirder to say it in front of him knowing the many times Jenny called him Daddy in her videos.

"I love you... Mommy. Let us work this out." I say meekly.

"Perfect. I think you both have made many great strides in this first session. If you are serious about becoming friends with me then I suggest as our take away, we both head to my mountain cabin for next weekend. Two guys hanging out and getting to know each other." Nathanial gives this suggestion and to me it feels innocent and plain enough. If I am to truly become friends with him, then a weekend away as guys might do us good.

"Oh that sounds perfect baby, I already was away for the weekend so you don't have to be left all alone." Jenny claps her hands and gives me a hug and then Nathanial one as we leave. Our time is up and for once in a long time I walk out of the office with Jenny holding onto me. Excited and happy that we are this close again.
