So where did they take the message?

Somewhere rich.

A powerful leap later puts you once again running across the rooftops back toward where you had been captured. One thing you immediately notice is without the protection of your magical gloves your feet don't really like the clay tiles of the roof. “Guess I should get some shoes. Dumbass.” You laugh to yourself quietly as you quickly make your way across the city. With no money, you know if your equipment isn't with the letter you will have to steal some.

Nearly an hour later you get close enough that you decide it is time to use the scroll. Pulling it out you think of the message and let the words on the scroll flow in front of you till you can make out what to say. Carefully you read every syllable deliberately and with purpose, making sure it is exactly right. As you finish the words on the scroll puff out of existence. In an instant you now know exactly were to go. It is a bit farther on, past the guards barracks, and in the large building you know must be where the king is. Taking the utmost care to remain hidden you pass over several guards, some like the others, and some more heavily armored. Finally you see what you need, the magic tells you it is inside of an open window in the main building just across a short courtyard. Sadly there are two guards that you don't see any easy way to slip past. “Well it worked last time.” You say sliding down the wall out of sight, and simply stroll up to the guards.

“Intruder kill her.” One of them says the instant he sees you. The other doesn't say a word, he simply pulls his sword. They approach you quickly but cautiously, their movement appearing very practiced and deliberate.

Holding your hands up you flash them a naughty smile, “Wait, I am sorry I surrender.” To no effect, as they get within reach, they pull up their shields get a tight grip on their swords, and attack. “No please no.” You beg, but in an instant you are in the fight of your life, knowing full well that they aren't going to stop. Your speed and agility is enough to keep their blades out of you. “Fine have it your way.” The instant you decide to fight back your instincts, or this bodies knowledge, or whatever kicks in with a vengeance. In a whirl of motion, you kick aside the shield of one, drop low drawing the dagger in one fluid motion and catch him under the seam of his helmet. Before he even stops moving you pull the sword from his slackening hand and with a lunge you plant it firmly in the chest of the other deftly inserting it between two plates under his arm as he raises it to strike. Pulling back the dagger, you give it a flip to remove what little blood is on it before returning it to the sheath.

The magic spell tells you next to go up. A mighty leap up to a scampering clime, quickly has you on a small balcony looking in at a rather well furnished room. Scanning the room quickly the magic lets you know that just out of sight on a small table is what you seek. There doesn't seem to be anyone there so quietly and quickly you rush the table and scoop up your target. Now that you have it, you can't help but look around at all the valuable looking furnishings. Sadly you don't have any idea how easy any of it would be to sell, or if doing so would get you caught, considering the magic available. Still the complete lack of funds, or even a pair of shoes forces your hand. Looking around for something you hope will either go unnoticed, or at least not be traceable, you open a drawer and find something nice, what you would guess a one pound silver bar. “Cool.” Not wanting to risk any more time spent here, you take what you have found, slip it into your little satchel, and head out. Quickly and silently you make your way out of the compound, twice having to hide motionless to avoid the heavier armored guards you now know are far more bloodthirsty. Just as the sun begins to light the sky, but before you can actually see it, you are pretty sure you are safe. The night has taken it's tole, and you know you are in no condition to start a long journey across a desert. Once you are near the water, in the usually deadlier section of town, you begin to relax.

A merchant just opening an outdoor stall proves to be a source of salvation, as well as an opportune fence. He sells footwear of all kinds. Something buried deep within you comes out at that moment and like a kid in a candy store you find you can't just buy the first you see, which was your first thought. Instead you try on several pairs, some with very high impractical heels, something you admittedly are a bit surprised to see, others little more than a piece of leather with a couple of straps to tie it in place. Finally after a little while, when you are pretty sure you know all of the ones that will fit you, you make a decision.
