Interrogation

The Trinity of the Justice League was nothing like the trinity that Jonah was used to. Only slightly less Godlike they stood in front of him in an empty room with looks which all engendered honestly for different reasons.

One was dressed as a giant bat, whose use of light and shadow would put even the best gaffers to shame. This one obviously was the one known as Batman, and he struck fear into Jonah.

The next was the most beautiful woman Jonah had ever seen. So much so that it transcended humanity. Her perfection was scary, her eyes bored into Jonah making him feel as **** as if he was asking the prettiest girl in school to prom. She was bigger, taller, and better than him and that made him feel a lot of emotions. Mostly that he wanted to stay on her good side, whether through awe or fear. This was Wonder Woman.

Finally, there was the large man with the perfect haircut and picturesque stance. No matter his trepidations Jonah felt that he could trust the big man in blue. The strong patriarch whose approval you desired more than anything and who’s disappointed you feared most. He was the best man possible. Superman.

Jonah Wasn’t sure which was the leader, he guessed they were all leaders in the faux democratic system built around them.

The reason for his meeting the trinity was because Jonah’s foreign presence was quickly discovered once he crossed to their universe. They were discussing his nature as a stow-away more to each other than with him.

“He fought on the same side of us” Superman explained “He must be a hero.”

“You can’t know that. We don’t know the criteria that other universes used when choosing who went.” Batman retorted “We can’t trust him.”

“You need to see the good in people. He did not hide from us.”

“Not well.”

“Gentlemen, he fought nobly at our side, and willingly brought back one of our fallen comrades. He should speak for himself.” Wonder Woman added.

Batman looked at Jonah expectantly.

“Well son, what do you have to say for yourself.”

Jonah swallowed nervously, time to put on a show. “Hello my name is Jonah Richardson and I would like to stay in your universe.”

“And why is that.”

“There’s nothing for me home. I have no desire to return there, from the little I have witnessed from your universe it is one of heroes and freedom. I can help here if you’d like. I have powers, useful ones.” Jonah continued, trying his best not to explicitly lie.

“What powers do you possess?” Batman asked.

“I can create portals.” Jonah answered.

“Just like Sideways?” Wonder Woman asked.

“Yeah, we must have been a matched set, I guess. Parallel universes and all.”

“Mmhhhmm” Batman was not entirely convinced.

The interrogation went on like this for quite some time. Jonah answered their questions to the best of his ability while making himself look as good, and as least suspicious, as possible. After talking, Jonah was sent outside the room while the three heroes discussed. Some time later he was let back in.

“Congratulations Mr. Richardson.” Superman said with a true smile “We have decided to accept your refugee status, as for your role on earth, that is yet to be determined. We will have more information for you in the future but for now we will leave you in the hands of one of our fellow heroes. I believe that Starfire is usually interested in welcoming new heroes.”

Wonder Woman turned to Superman with concern “I don’t think that’s the best idea. Perhaps somebody else should-”

“Nonsense, she may be young be she knows the ropes, plus they are both not from this world.”

“Of course.”

Once the business was over, the three left Jonah quickly. They had much more important affairs than watching over the newest addition to their universe.
