Chapter 19

What's next?
The next day, you are detained by security for the hacking
You sat on the tram waiting for your stop, cycling through the three tickets that were your highest priority today: Life Support on Ring 1 needed a new recycler, Five computers on Ring 1's Main Archive needed to be reformatted, which would mean removing the 5,000 or so storage drives first to keep the data, and that Ring 1's Zeta Intensity Lab needs new radiation shielding. You scrolled through them, reckoning that the radiation shielding was most important, maybe then Main Admin would fucking listen to you about all these issues.
"Ring 1 -- Please Mind the Gap." The tram chimed as you step off the moment the doors opened and start power walking towards the Zeta Labs. As you enter the lab, two security officers grab your arms.
"Excuse me?" You say, looking at both of them.
"Ms. Erin would like a meeting with you." one says.
"Hear you like playing with computers." the other quips. You sigh and go along with them.
You sat in the well furnished office of Ms. Erin. A short woman, a Cerothite, actually. She had ruffles along the side of her head, and hair along the top and back of it, her face appeared completely human like with a brownish skin tone save for a third eye in the center of her forehead. You fumed, recalling how she had explicitly told you to take the tickets in the order in which they were given and not to question her further about it. The only issue having been you made your living by questioning systems that didn't work right.
"Mr. Zambac." she started, suddenly appearing in your vision as she spoke. You still weren't convinced if they could just turn invisible or were camouflaged somehow, "Why have you disobeyed my direct orders and gone ahead with your own illogical way of 'fixing' this station?" her voice rattled in his head, the quiet but piercing tone impossible to ignore.
"Because, Ms. Erin, per our last meeting, some of the maintenance issues present what I consider to be existential threats to the structural integrity of the station, which, according to my contract as Lead Maintenance, gives me the right to override other current tickets." You replied, tightly crossing it's arms
"Mr. Zambac." Ms. Erin stated again, you were starting to hate when anyone but Garwa said that, "It does not give you the right to override my directives. You will do as I say." she replied.
"That shit may work with scientists, who worry about funding or some other bureaucratic malarkey, but not me."
"It works because they don't want to raise my ire, they just want to go about their research and be left alone. They do what they're told, only ask questions about their research and not the station. They keep their heads down, as should you."
"Is that a threat, ma'am?" you ask incredulously.
"It doesn't need to be," Erin stood, there was no difference in height, and walked around in front of you, you stared straight into her third eye because you knew it bugged her, "However, Mr. Zambac, I feel you've been working too hard lately. I think you should take some time off. I think Mr. Rosh'dan will make a suitable replacement until you return."
"What? You can't do that--" you stand, towering over the short alien.
"I already have. You'll find yourself unable to access your work tablet, or your admin computer functions, because you are on a vacation for the next week, Mister Zambac." you pull out your tablet and see that it won't let you access anything, just showing the Station Omicron logo sitting in a beach chair under a palm tree.
"So. Be. It." You huff and step to the door.
"And don't try anything, Zambac. I have eyes and ear everywhere." Erin said before shimmering out of his perception.
"**** Vacation? That's absurd, how can she do that?" Garwa waddle to and fro in front of you, which brought you at least a little joy to watch.
"Yea, it was ridiculous, but I'm locked out of everything." You finished explaining to Garwa. She waddled over to you, thighs and hips wobbling with each step. You notice she's gotten a new suit, which seems to really accent her shapely lower half.
"Even so, Michael, I know one thing that you aren't locked out of." Garwa leaned against you, your hand slid up the back of her thigh and quickly squeezed her rear.
"I think I know too." You wink up at her. She giggled and ruffled your hair some, "I guess with all this free time I'll be having I'll be terribly bored in my apartment all by my self." your hand traced up her belly before palming and jiggling it slightly. Garwa trembled slightly.
"M~Michael! I think I might be able to do something about that, I have a day off coming up in a couple days... maybe I could join you on your little vacation." Garwa placed a hand over yours and held it tightly. You both jolted apart as the door to Central Maintenance.
"Mike, what're you doing here? I thought you were on vacation?" Iskeller Rosh'dan asked you as he entered and clumsily set his tools down at the central computer, breaking a key off it. He didn't react.
"Yea. Yea, I am. I was just visiting Garwa before her shift started." You stand and start walking for the door.
"See you later, Mr. Zambac." Garwa said as you exited the door.
"See you." You smile back at her and wave.
"Alright, first ticket today is... vending machine needs a new light, whelp, that should take a bit." Rosh'dan said and Garwa sighed. You just purse your lips angrily and head back to your apartment.
What do you do on your little vacation?
