Bringing her back.

When I opened my eyes, the sight of trees and the sunset orange sky allowed me to let go of the breath I held onto.

"FUCK YEAH WE MADE IT OUT ALIVE!"

Shit, I almost forgot, Esther was still ****, leaning on me like a mannikin. I sit down as I lay her on my legs. From my sack I pull out a red vial and popped open the cork with my thumb, then steadily, and evenly, I poured it on her body. Then with a faint crimson glow that faded away soon after…nothing happened.

That glow should have meant she was healed, I take a look at the spots where her sacred attire was shredded, and I couldn’t find any cuts or bruises that I saw before.

So why isn't she up yet?

Did she sustain any head trauma? If that's the case it'd make sense why that low grade potion didn't work. I don't have any high grade ones, since I never could afford it, but now I can. I hoisted Esther onto my back and started galloping.

I’m gonna bring her back to camp, so I can go buy a high potion.

It turns out running back to your base camp takes a lot longer if you have someone on your back. Why can’t the adventurer’s sack hold people inside, Esther’s ****, so she’s technically an inanimate object right? Either way, we’re back. I open up Esther’s tent, inside was a stack of religious texts stacked artfully by her sleeping bag. A miniature statue of the goddess Althea resides by a small ivory candle. A bag, with white fabric showing from the small amount it was opened, was also in there. Thank god she has back up clothes.

God, after splitting all the gold, we can finally move away from camping out in the wild.

I slowly lower her onto her sleeping bag. She looks so peaceful, her delicate features resting still as if she was merely dozing. I walk back out, zipping up her tent as I leave, and I start to make my way to the town once again.
