Buneary-napped!

You and the others were walking along until you can see the aforementioned fork in the road your map showed. You move up ahead in order to check on the signpost in the center. As you expected, one would lead to the church the Gardevoir told you about. The other would lead you down the path one should take in order to circle back towards the survivor camp you need to go to. You were about to head towards the camp, but your mind flashed back to her words and compared them to her tone and expression.

There is something about those things that didn’t sit right with you. She offered comfort and supplies there, but her tone suggested that one shouldn’t go there. If she doesn’t want other survivor’s to go there, why would she try to tell it in secret? The more you think about this, the more you start to get a foreboding feeling running up your spine.

If it’s something she needs to keep quiet about, it will be dangerous to go there. But if I turn away knowing this, I could leave a potentially dangerous secret to fester and make things worse… You take a look at the direction where the path to the camp is and your blood runs cold.

You can see 3 Pokémon on the pathway leading to the camp. They were growling, slashing and striking at each other. Considering their behavior, you have no reason to not believe that they’re normal.

‘Okay, they don’t know I’m here. I just need to back away from this area without them realizing I’m present…’ You thought backing up from the scene, right into someone and stepping on their paw. A cry of pain came out which made you jolt as you turned around and saw your sister. “Ah Kate! I-” you paused as you looked and saw that the others were behind her and they were sporting a look of horror. You had a hunch of what it was that gave them that look, but you went and turned around to see that the group of infected stopped fighting and focused their attention on you. Your eyes widened in realization of the danger as the noise the infected made drew 4 more infected Pokémon to the fray, they are now outnumbered by one and it was too risky to face them with your sister so close. There’s only one thing you all can do now.

“Run!...” You muttered as you started to push your sister back alongside you. “Everyone run!” you cried out urgently as you can see everyone started running down the pathway leading towards the church. The infected Pokémon roared in frenzy as they charged towards the fleeing group.

You felt the wind rushing against your face as your paws were slamming against the ground as you pushed your form to keep ahead of the infected pack.

“Just been awake for about an hour and we’re already running for our lives!” Felix cried out.

“At least we’re still here!” Vargus stated, trailing the group while taking a peek back to the pursuing infected. While they are following behind, most of their aggression is focused on each other as they try to keep the other from getting ahead, wanting them for themselves and not for the others.

“Where exactly are we going?!” Rachael cried out who was running a bit ahead of you, looking back.

“There’s that church I told you all about!” You stated, keeping an eye on your sister who was slightly in front of you. “If we can get there, we should be safe from the infected.”

“That’s the place you said that the Gardevoir was covertly trying to keep us away right? Isn’t that a bad idea?” Neku asked.

“Considering the situation we’re in right now, we don’t have a choice!” Nina pointed out.

“Will there be someone to help us there?!” Kate asked, terror clearly mixed in her voice.

“There is!” You told her, barely catching yourself from saying there has to be.

As you and the others continued running, you caught what looked to be a waiting figure hiding among the shadows of the trees. You couldn’t make out its appearance, but it was tall and slender. The only color you can make out was its violet gaze as it eyes your approaching group before starting to open its mouth. Before you could warn everyone, a long, pink tongue flew out in front of you, wrapping around your friend before she was pulled into the woods without a sound.

“RACHAEL!!” You cried out, stopping for only a second before dashing right into the woods, right after her.

“Hold up! Rai wait!” Neku cried out. Everyone made the same reaction, but it was drawn out as they continued to flee away from their pursuers.

You kept running as fast as you can, your heart pounding as you went past bushes, over large aerial roots as you leapt over small gaps as you arrived at a small clearing. It was quiet as you frantically look around.

“Rachael?!” you panted as you look everywhere. “Rachael?! Where are you?!” you called out, not caring at all about whatever could be out there, you have to save your friend!

Just then, you heard something that sounded like a growl and scream mixed together. You were about to head over there until you suddenly saw something rushing away at your right side. You couldn’t tell what it was. You look back between the direction of the sound, and the direction of the movement you saw. You don’t have much time, so you just brace yourself and…
