Alternate option, Phase Shift!

Blair's eyes closed as she tried to focus on her options. Each of the options were good, but an ability she hadn't thought about in a while came to mind, Phase Shift. She hadn't used that ability since she helped Ellinor stabilize an illusion barrier. (This happened in chapter 55 here.) It allowed her to phase out of all points of reality for forty-five seconds. However, she wasn't sure what would happen if she used it inside an illusion barrier, but it had to be better than getting hit by three huge balls, right? Her eyes widened as the three balls closed in on her.

She cast Phase Shift, causing the world before her to begin to waver. - 25 Mp She instinctively braced for impact, but the balls that were meant to hit her bounced off one another at the exact point she was standing instead, smashing harmlessly against the sand. An interesting effect unfolded before her eyes; the very color of the world blew out like sand, but unlike being outside of an illusion barrier, the color did not return. Oddly enough, she couldn't see the sides of the illusion barrier, but she could see the outline of the ceiling. It was about fifty feet above her.

Vivi grins widely. "Did I get her!? Wait, I didn't hear the cracking of bones, a scream, or the gushing of blood from a serious wound..." She flies over, carefully looking over the area. "I don't see her. Nor do I sense her. What is going on here?" She crosses her arms and huffs. "Ugh, fucking coward..." Blair smiles brightly. "Ha! Sucks to be you!" Alas, this thought of success was short lived. At the exact moment Vivi noticed that she wasn't there, the timer for her quest stopped. Five minutes were remaining.

Vivi's iridescent eyes stared intensely at the spot Blair had been. "I don't know how you did it, but I know you didn't get far." Blair lets out a soft sigh while running about twenty feet forward, using a mental command in tandem to equip Fuxipo's Hairpin. "At least I bought myself time to reposition myself and equip an item." This item not only increased all her stats by 5 but granted immunity to knockbacks from explosions too. That was when she remembered that she had 5 skill points to spend. Given the situation, she had only one option to increase her chance of survival. She put all of them into Agility, increasing her movement speed further. This increased her Agility from 50 to 55.

By the time she turned around, Phase Shift timed out, causing her to phase back into reality and color to return to her surroundings. 'Damn it...' Vivi's body perks up as she spins around. "There you are!!" She cackles, lifting her mallet as high as she could before smacking the nearest ball toward Blair. The timer began to tick down once more. Blair's eyes widened while the ball flew toward her. She cast Pro skillz. - 25 Mp This would increase the effectiveness of her next ability or spell used within 10 seconds by 50% but its cost would increase by 25%.

She had enough time to avoid the ball, but another two smacks were heard as the other two balls nearby were sent her way. Vivi cackled as she lifted her hand, summoning another six huge balls around her. Her mana drops by 600. "You had me going... I honestly thought you ran away. But I know better now. Allow me to make up for lost time!" Blair cast Rhythm of Continuity and Defense. 200 + 25% = 250, - 250 Hp, 250 x 4.5 (Increased by 50%) = 1,125, 1,125 Shield While the shield holds up, her health and mana regeneration rates are increased by 150% (Increased by 50%). She narrowly avoided the two balls that were sent her way, but another six hard smacks were heard.

Blair manages to avoid three of the balls but is hit by the remaining three. 65 + 30 = 95, 95 x 2 (speed of ball) = 190, 190 - 10% (Way of the Tide) = 171, 171 x 3 = 533, - 533 Shield She was surprised that she didn't feel any of that as the balls bounced off an invisible **** around her, which she assumed was her shield. Vivi blinks as she watches in disbelief. "Hey! You're supposed to be in pain, bitch! What gives!?" She starts to flail her arms around angrily. Blair looks off to the side. 'What happened to her merciless attacks?'

She glances at the timer. She saw that four minutes and forty-five seconds remained. She shrugs. "Maybe your balls are broken?" Vivi glares at Blair. "Did you just seriously suggest that my balls are broken?" Blair nods slightly. "We're both women. It would be strange if either of us had balls. Let alone balls that worked, right?" Vivi snorts then bursts out laughing. "I can't believe you just said that." She drops her mallet for a moment as she calms herself down, eating an additional thirty seconds of the timer.

Blair used this time to create some more distance between the two of them. Vivi wipes a tear from her eye. "Ah, that was funny! If you weren't a murderous bitch, I would..." She gasps, reaching for her mallet. "Hey! Get back here!" She starts to fly after Blair. Although Blair moved quickly, the sand underneath her feet slowed her down massively, not to mention being able to fly over the sand gave Vivi one hell of an advantage over her. That was when she realized she had something to help her in this situation. 'Why didn't I think of it earlier?'

This ability was Cuteness. This turns her cuteness up to the maximum, causing those who strike her to unconsciously hold back, reducing damage dealt to her by 20%. She toggles this ability on. - 10 Mp This caused her movements to look far cuter than normal and even caused her lower lip to protrude a little. She was pouting when she glanced at Vivi. "Can't you just forgive me?" Vivi flutters in the air for a few seconds before flailing her arms angrily. "No! Trying to look cute won't save you!" She grits her teeth, lifting her hand to summon four huge balls. Her mana drops by 400.

This time the balls were too close to be avoided as they all hit Blair, bouncing off her shield again. 65 + 30 = 95, 95 x 2 (speed of ball) = 190, 190 - 30% (Way of the Tide + Cuteness) = 133, 133 x 4 = 532, - 532 Shield Vivi glares at Blair. "...." Blair ran for a few more seconds. Vivi glances at her mallet. She growls as she flies close to Blair whacks her hard with it. 65 + 30 = 95, 95 - 30% (Way of the Tide + Cuteness) = 67 (66.5), - 60 Shield, - 7 Hp This connects dealing, but only manages to tap Blair.

Blair stops to look at Vivi, slightly confused by how soft the blow was. "Ow?" - 1 Mp Vivi frustratedly glares at Blair. "That's it! I'll give this next attack all I got!" She says while flying twenty feet higher into the air. "If you can survive this, I'll forget about what you've done!" Her mallet vanishes as she lifts both of her hands into the air. Blair wasn't sure what was going to happen next but only thirty seconds remained on the quest's timer. Will Vivi attack with a magical beam, sandstorm, ginormous ball, or something truly random?
