Buffy

"Xander." Buffy called out.

Turning he spotted his friend getting dropped off by her mom. He waved to the duo and smiled as both waved at him. Xander stopped walking and waited as Buffy hurried over to him while her mom drove away.

"Hey." They said at the same time.

Both gave a half hearted laugh.

"Soooo you have a good night?" Buffy asked.

Xander shrugged, "You?"

Buffy made a face.

"Right there with ya." Xander clapped his hands. "Aint love grand?"

Buffy huffed, "Yeah, right."

Xander suddenly had an idea. Probably a bad idea. But maybe a genuis idea. Time to test his power. "Well, Buff, would you rather have loved and lost or never have loved at all?"

Looking over he was surprised to see Buffy just standing there, as if in a trance with a blank look on her face. He didnt know what was going on but it looked like his question power worked. Before he could even ask what was happening Buffy slowly furrowed her brow and answered.

"I would rather never have loved."

"The hell? It worked?" Xander asked himself as he looked around. He didnt see anything unusual and as he turned to look at Buffy he found his friend blinking rapidly and 'waking up' from the trance she seemed to fall into. It didnt seem like someone was pulling a prank on him.

"You okay?" Xander cautiously asked Buffy.

Buffy turned and looked up at him, she slowly smiled at him. "Yeah. Yeah, I am."

Taking in her rapidly improving mood Xander quirked his brow, "What, uh, what changed?"

"I just..." Buffy couldn't help but laugh, "I just realized that I don't love him. I don't know if I ever did." She laughed again.

"Well, that is, uh, good?"

Buffy laughed again, "It is. It really is. Oh my god, I feel so... so much lighter... like a weight- this huge weight- is off my shoulders."

Xander smiled at her and gave her a thumbs up. "That's great Buff."

Buffy put a hand on his arm, "oh, Xander, I'm sorry. I don't want to make it seem like, uh, well... you and Cordy... and me and him, uhm-"

He cut her off, "I got you Buffy. It's fine. I'm happy, you're happy. Seriously."

And he was. His power worked. And the Buffy Angel relationship fiasco was no more.

Things were looking up.
