Everything.

The trip back to the Sanctuary was very quiet. Aella told you there were definitely things that go bump in the night stalking through the forest, so stealth was definitely needed. You could see everything with your suits night vision, and you were very impressed with Aella who seemed to be able to see and move around as if she had night vision too. Due to moving around stealthily it took a bit longer to get back, but you did reach the back door to the Sanctuary without issue. Pushing in the code, the door opened and you gave Aella a tour of the facility. The only thing that really seemed to shock her was when Dawn showed up. You weren't sure if she fully understood what Dawn was, but you had to remember this was a world where magic existed, so for most of the inhabitants the simple explanation of "It's Magic" seemed to suffice. Even when you showed her the massive mechanical T-rex, and the other robotic inhabitants of the Sanctuary.

Having a basic plan in mind you showed Aella your armory. Your plan was simple. An ambush, but you still needed to explain to Aella how your weapons worked. Again, the magic explanation seemed to work well for her, though you were betting a demonstration would be more effective, so you promised to show her what your weapons were capable of when the sun came up. For now you gave a run down of what weapons you planned on using. You showed her a large caliber machine gun, and a smaller caliber machine gun. You weren't certain which you were going to use yet. You showed her a sniper rifle you know you'd be letting Rene use, and then you showed her your main battle rifles with a brief explanation. You then showed her some of the explosives you planned on using.

You knew Annabel had an arm on her, and would be a good choice for the grenades. There were also remote detonation claymore type explosives that seemed similar to what you knew of in your old world, and unsurprisingly, mines. Though you were **** to use mines for there intended purpose you were still going to bury a few on top of the remote claymores to make some really large explosions.

"These are powerful weapons certainly...but will your women be capable of killing when the time comes" Aella asks you.

"Unfortunately some have already had to defend themselves. Annabel and Jane had to defend themselves and have proven capable of doing so. Nadine has been in quite a few battles. Yvette I trust is more than capable of fighting. The only one I am worried about is Rene, but she is also the most adept with these weapons. I think she will do fine. I just wish **** wasn't coming so soon for us" you reply.

"**** is always coming for us" Aella responds "that makes the moments we have even more precious" she adds. You sigh knowing there is truth to it.

"Have you been in any battles" you ask Aella.

"Just one" Aella replies "There was a raid of people that came through from the south looking for easy pickings. Occasionally a group will land, search around for something to loot, and then leave. They found our settlement and demanded we surrender it to them. We refused and they attempted to light our walls on fire. We responded by attacking them at night. They fought to the last man despite our attempts to take some alive" she continues.

"Did you feel any guilt after the battle was over" you ask.

"No. Their goal was to kill my friends and family. They did not deserve such a feeling" she replies "though I understand how some would feel that way after taking a life regardless of how that person spent that life" she adds placing her hand on your shoulder sympathetically.

For the next few hours you load up the equipment onto the trailers that the ATVs can pull. Your plan is to travel to a specific spot where the road is very close to the forest. It was two days walk from the Sanctuary, but with the ATVs it should take less than a few hours. Then from there you would set up the ambush. Exhausted, you showed Aella the baths and showers so she could clean off her own sweat, and you did the same. Even though you were exhausted your thoughts of the upcoming ambush seemed to be keeping you up. You were just preparing to lay down on your bed when you heard a knock. You call for them to enter, and Aella steps into your room wearing a robe.
