Redhead Rendezvous -- Prologue

MJ, Jean & Kori made their way to a bar near the Manhattan apartment Jean was staying at, finding a booth in the corner. They all ordered drinks, and began chatting amonst each other. The conversation flowed naturally, and the girls immediately found themselves having a great time. When the drinks arrive, MJ raised her cocktail and joyfully said, "To an awesome friendship!"

"I'll drink to that," Jean agreed, and she and Kori clinked their glasses together with MJ's as they all took a drink. "So, I gotta know -- how did you two meet? I don't think I've ever met a couple as smitten with each other as you two are."

"Blame Kori for that. She's the one who seduced me," MJ grinned, placing her hand over Kori's.

Kori smiled widely and blushed in response. "Donna & I hired MJ for a photoshoot. We'd been looking for a model to work with,when I came across MJ's portfolio -- she was easily the most beautiful woman I'd ever seen."

Now, it was MJ's turn to blush. "Oh, Kori..." she said sheepishly, cuddling in closer to her girlfriend. "Kori and I became fast friends. She invited me for drinks in her dressing room after the photoshoot, and when she kissed me, my life totally changed."

"We have been together ever since," Kori smiled. "I can honestly say I have never been so happy in my life."

"Ditto," MJ added, kissing Kori on the cheek. "So, how about you, Jeannie? Anyone special in your life?"

Jean shook her head. "No, not really. I've tried dating a few teammates - Scott and Logan, particularly - but I ended both those relationships pretty quickly. Great guys, but for some reason, they never really clicked with me."

"So you're single, huh? On the dating scene?" MJ asked.

"I wouldn't say that," Jean replied. "I just haven't met any guys that interest me."

"Really?" MJ seemed surprised. "You seem like such an outgoing person -- you should be getting dates left & right!"

"It doesn't bother me that much," Jean told the couple. "I'm still only 24. There's plenty of time to meet the right person."

"You do have the benefit of youth," Kori admitted. "But it is never too early for love."

"Well, you two are obviously happy together," Jean conceded, sipping on her drink. "Maybe I need to start dating outside of the X-Men?"

"Or maybe you should try dating an X-Woman," MJ suggested.

"Huh. I've never dated a girl. You know, that idea doesn't sound as crazy as I might have thought," Jean mused. "Though I have no idea where I'd start..."

"Maybe MJ and I can help. After all, we now have experience dating women. Perhaps you'd like to read our minds and learn for yourself?" Kori offered, giving MJ's hand a knowing squeeze. A slight mischievous smirk crossed MJ's face -- this had to be part of Kori's plans for Jean.

"Why not?" Jean grinned. "But we should probably go somewhere a little more private. If I show off my mutant powers here, we're could have an angry mob chasing us through town."

MJ felt a pang of anger at Jean's comment. "Yeah, I forget sometimes that there are plenty of bigoted assholes out there. Let's go back to my apartment -- you can read my mind in peace there," she suggested.
