Chapter 2 by Storier Storier

What power do you wish to explore?

Anthropomorphic Transmutation

((Turning a knife into a knaifu -- WIP))

Anthropomorphic Transmutation

How it works: You have the power to transform objects into people by placing both hands on the object and speaking a keyword, such as "Transform!"

A person who was formerly an object preserves their experiences from when they were an object, remembering things they did, where they were taken, or what they were used for. Their memory ranges from manufacture, through point of sale, to history with former and current owners and/or users.

Anthropomorphized objects possess all skills and physical capabilities required to perform their intended (or improvised) functions. For example, a personified knife will be able to cut vegetables with their bare hands and understand the workings of a kitchen to some degree. Anthropomorphized objects may also be aware of company philosophies, slogans, branding, warranties, instructions, or marketing which applies to themselves. For example, a fancy Japanese knife-turned-person will know what kind of knife they are, their proper care and handling, and where they stand in comparison with other knives on the market. Taken together, these factors can greatly influence their personality, motivations, and worldview.

Finally, the form an anthropomorphized object takes is usually related to the object they were originally. In the Japanese knife example, the personified knife would likely be ethnic Japanese and rather slim, possibly with metallic silver eyes, hair, or nails.

Limitations: Only one item can be transformed into a person per 24 hours. After 24 hours, the item transforms back into an object of its own accord. If again transformed into a person, the object will retain its memories from its last transformation. It is possible to chain transform an object over and over in such a way that it will never turn back into an object.

Variants

Object Permanence: Anthropomorphized objects remain transformed indefinitely.

Alternate Trigger: A requirement other than touching with both hands and announcing, "Transform!" is required to perform a transformation. For example, making wishes to bring items to life, or kissing objects, or sprinkling magic powder around something to transform it.

Conditional Rollback: Anthromorphs revert to object form after a particular condition is met, eg, on the third stroke of midnight, or after the completion of a given task.

Broom Closet: There is a higher (potentially unlimited) upper bound on the number of transformations you can perform each day.

Wild Transmutation: Transformations are uncontrollable in some way. For example, transformation is automatically performed on any item touched, or on the first item you look at after waking up, etc.

Girl Power: Transformed objects are always transformed into women.

Reverse Card: In addition to turning objects into people, you can turn people into objects. Typically every person has a specific item that they'll manifest as when transformed, but some versions of this variant allow the wielder to transform others into certain objects only, or even any object they choose.

Wielder, power variant, and motive?
