Chapter 11

Tabitha opened the passenger door to Anna’s car and started walking towards the school, oblivious to the world around her.

“Hey wait for me!” Anna Choi called after her as she scrambled to get out of her seat belt and collect her things.

“Hey, whatever **** was holding us against the back seat seems to be gone. Wecan move again.” Lonnie said as he pushed the naked little fly-man’s body up and away from the back seat.

Tony’s disembodied voice came out of the speaker located on the cyborg creature’s chest. “What are you waiting for then? After her, she is the only one who can separate us back into two people and make us normal size again.” Tony started the cyborg’s mechanical bug wings even as he spoke sending the cyborg into the air as Lonnie made a beeline for Anna’s open door and then angled towards Tabitha as he exited the vehicle.

“Tabitha! Watch where you are going!” Anna screamed as Tabitha walked right in front of Marcus Thompson’s fast-approaching motorcycle as he tore through the school parking lot at his usual dangerous speeds.

The African American jock tried to swerve but it was too late. Tabitha’s powers reacted immediately striking the speeding motorbike and football player merging and combining them into one and sending him flying head-over-heels or rather head-over-wheel over the top of Tabitha who was knocked to the ground by the **** of the bike hitting her powers shielding.

Tabitha lay on the ground next to her book bag rattled but unhurt as Anna quickly rushed to her side and helped her up “Oh my gosh Tabitha are you OK? You have got to watch where you are going.”

Tabitha didn’t answer however as she was too busy staring in shock at the half-man half-machine form of their classmate Marcus Thompson.

Marcus’ top half seemed mostly the same though the linebacker’s muscles seemed even larger if that was possible. His shirt was mostly shredded from the crash and the two large metal shoulder pad-like objects seemed to grow right out of his skin. His usually bald head was also covered with a spiked metal helmet that similarly seemed to grow right out of his head. His bottom half was where the real change occurred. He was all metal from the waist down with a chain that seemed attached to his backside wrapped around his waist and two metal spokes where his legs should be that attached to a wide heavy-duty looking motorcycle wheel.

“Bitch what did you do to me!” Marcus yelled as he somehow easily righted himself onto his feet or rather his wheel. “You turned me into some kind of freak!”

“I didn’t mean to,” Tabitha said almost in tears. “You can change yourself back, it isn’t permanent. I mean it is but you can go back and forth between that form and your human form.” Tabitha hastily explained before adding a weak “You're a meta now, yay.”

“What, I can change back?” Marcus said even as his metal parts seemed to shrink and morph back into flesh leaving him once again as the star football player. The star football player in a completely shredded shirt and absolutely naked from the waist down. “Hey, where’s my bike!” Marcus asked angrily.

People started running to the commotion from all parts of the parking lot. And people were talking all at once.

“Did you see that Marcus has powers?” One girl said.

“Did he hit someone it looked like he hit someone?” Someone else said.

“I thought I saw him riding his bike, did someone take it and his clothes?” Another girl asked.

“Dude, where are your pants?” One guy asked as he came running up only to have Marcus grab him.

“You’re wearing them, geek! Now take them off and hand them over.” Marcus yelled at the guy.

“But...but.” The guy started to protest.

“No buts and be quick about it too or I will take your underwear too even though I am not going to wear them!”

Anna pulled Tabitha from the scene. “Come on Tabitha let’s get out of here before we attract any more unwanted attention.”

“Did you see that, Lonnie; you were right Tabitha changed Marcus into a machine man and he was able to change back so she can change us back as well!” Tony exclaimed excitedly.

“Yes, but Marcus was able to change himself back. Why can’t we? Lonnie asked.

“Who knows and who cares as long as we get back to normal? Follow her!”

“I am, I am, but she couldn’t hear us in the car, we will have to find some way to communicate with her and a secluded place for her to change us back. We are going to come back naked you know.” Lonnie said.

“I don’t care as long as we are back to our normal-sized naked selves again, she can change us back in front of the whole school for all I care,” Tony stated emphatically.

Meanwhile in the underground control center of the very building Tabitha and Richie had infiltrated the night before. A man approaches an attractive but harsh-looking silver-haired woman.

Ma’am our surveillance team is picking up a significant amount of meta-energy readings coming from a high school in the suburbs North of here.”

“Very good, dispatch a pick-up team.” The woman said with a devilish smile. “I want that meta identified and wrapped for delivery with a full investigation of their families particularly their siblings for any evidence of additional metas. Continue surveillance of the surrounding area for the meta who attacked us and the escaped MM303, in case this is not, one of them. I must have those metas! Fail me and believe me you will live to regret it.”
