A Precious Privilege Pt 2

"... And it was a hell of a day today too."

Walt sat having a beer his hat off brim up next to him and the bouquet.

"We had more of those protestors I told you about, again. Treating the characters too well on side and then I'm a monster for having my company own so many on the other. Oh, yeah and another group complaining about me trying to save something. You'll get a laugh out of this one "Strip Mining Conservancy". I thought yall'd appreciate that one."

He takes another drink shaking his head.

"Still they're right about me, finally. I finally own characters personally... I bought one... and then when I knew she wanted it I bought some more... and last night I went and bought even more of them."

He looks down at the ground underneath nodding his head before raising head and smiling.

"But you already know that, I expect. I been meaning to drop by and tell you all myself... I should've come sooner. I've been busy but that's no excuse."

He clears his throat.

"So when you see them up to the house that's what's going on. It's lively now. Not near full up but it's not like it's been. There's music and dancing and laughter and happiness and..."

He takes a deep breath.

"And there's love... I love them... some of them romantically... and they love me back. We're becoming like a family... maybe a touch stranger then we had but we weren't exactly a "normal" family either."

He looks at the grave stones.

"I hope you all can understand that when you see us. Be happy for us. Maybe even look out for them. They're a part of our family now."

He finished his beer and slowly stood, picking up his hat and the bouquet.

"Anyway I wanted to come and tell you all that. Catch you all up. Not like yall don't know it all anyway. Maybe I just wanted to explain myself... before all the new folks arrive. Now I gotta go explain myself some more. Anyway..."

He pats the first two stones before doing the same and laying the bouquet by the third.

"... I love you and I'll be seeing you."

He pauses a moment looking at the fourth raw uncut stone that says "Walter Stark" and nothing else. Walt turns and walks back slow passing trees and more stones. He places the empty in the back and puts his hat on as he climbs in the truck and heads for home.

Training had been good. Today was more vehicle and firearms instruction. It had all gone well. Lifts-Her-Tail and Ahnassi were still struggling with larger vehicles but were showing a lot of progress, especially with the smaller ones. Instructor Givens had been thrilled that they'd all decided to bring their hats with them to Rallys annoyance. They couldn't help but look at the two of them now and their joking and think about them as a pair. The ladies silently wished Rally well.

The place was busy as usual and nothing appeared out of the ordinary but there was a strange tension they saw in other people from time to time. Neo pointed out to them that people kept looking towards the direction of where the main gate lay.

Penny raised her hand and asked at the end of their instruction. Raylan and Rally both explained the situation as best they could to the ladies.

On the way home they explained the protestors and then showed them footage at the house. Honestly it wasn't that many people and the group looked miniscule huddled in protest next to the massive facility. They were surprised when Courtney and Rally both commented that it was a big turn out. Most of the news coverage played up the fact that it was multiple groups that didn't necessarily get along. It was true. The coverage showed two of the groups actively hating each other which was driving tensions higher.

But Penny was upset. Signs with Walt on them calling him awful things or portrayed as a monster. There was even a effigy of him someone set on fire!

There was a interview with Walter after a press conference. He didn't seem bothered by it at all. He actually laughed at some of the questions like he was amused. During the interview the April O'Neal asked him a lot of questions but was very polite and mentioned a lot of the things Walt had done personally to help. The approval ratings during it was very high for 3S.

Still it bothered Penny. She remebered how it had felt when the people of Atlas and Mantle had turned on her.

Sienna and Blake, and even Kali, remembered their time in the White Fang. But this was a little different. Sure half of them were talking about character freedom a little. But they mostly just seemed to be attacking the people who had treated them well and Walter in particular. They wondered if this was how families like the Schnee's had felt. At least Jacque and SDC had deserved that, if maybe not the rest. 3S and Walt though had been really good to them however. It made them feel a little uncomfortable.

Then Penny had an idea! They should do something to cheer Walt up when he got home... but what and how?

Neo grinned. She took them outside and pointed to the container that Friday said the rest if their clotes had arrived in. They caught on quickly to her idea!

Rally and Courtney grinned "That would definitely cheer him up!"

"But which ones should we wear?"

Neo held up her micro bikini eyebrows raised.

The other gulped remembering some of the very risqué pieces they had bought. Those would definitly cheer him "up" but...

"Isn't it a little cold to be prancing around in swimwear though? Unless we're going to the springs I doubt you'd want that." Penny pointed out.

Neo saw her point. She put it back and resolved to talk to Walter about getting a hot tub and indoor pool installed later for his enjoyment.

Penny pulled out some nightwear. "What about this. You don't all have to wear the super sexy stuff but maybe t he rest of us could..."

Courtney said, "As a former model I can tell you you'd have the same problem as you just pointed out with Neo's suggestion. Plus you might want to save that for bedroom surprise fun."

Penny nodded. "Good point. I don't want to ruin the surprise."

"What if we wear these?" Pyrrha suggested pulling out the evening dress thinking about being a princess for her hero.

Kali shook her head. "I'm dying to wear mine too but those are night out and party clothes. Well probably be staying in and a fancy, special occasion takes time and planning which we don't have right now, I'm afraid." She really wanted to wear hers and see Walt's- she shook her head trying to get those thoughts out!

Pyrrha nodded she was right. She put the dress back.

Ahnassi held up kimonos.

Lifts-Her-Tail held up French Maid uniforms.

Kali held up denim cutoffs.

Blake held up goth outfits.

Sienna held up booty shorts.

Pyrrha held up leotards.

Neo held up bunnysuits.

Penny held up cowgirl outfits.

Rally held up catsuits.

Cover-Girl said "Hold on... Why don't you each wear something different that you'd like to wear? That way you can cheer him up and have fun wearing something you enjoy and feel comfortable in too!"

Everyone smiled and nodded. That was a brilliant idea! Cover-Girl and Rally offered to stay and help. Rally had a little experience from her old partner May and Cover-Girl had lots from being a former model. They helped the girls pick out outfits and do their hair and makeup while the ladies hatched their plan and made preparations.

Walt passed the van on his way home. He slowed the truck a bit to see if the two had anything to say but Rally and Cover-Girl just passed by giving him a quick wave and all grins. He shrugged at least the girls were making friends. That was good.

Passing the barn and the shipping container he shook his head, chuckling. His life wasn't boring with the ladies around, that was for sure. Parking the truck he wondered what the rest of the day had in store for them.
