Friday

Its Friday afternoon, just after school has ended. Unfortunately, I'm sitting at a table in the school library, studying. I look up, spotting several other people I know around me. I notice that most of them will be coming on the trip, and are studying extra this week in preparation for the two weeks of school that we will be missing.

I've been studying a lot this week, even spending my free period reading ahead in my textbooks, learning the chapters we will be missing in class.

"Wow, you got here fast." I immediately recognize Doe's voice, as she walks up to the table, plopping down into the open seat.

"Skipped gym and just came here to do work," I say.

"Right, I forgot you have gym last. Perfect time for a skippable class."

"Yeah, I got lucky. How was the rest of your day since History?"

"Eh, not much happened. Boring," she responds, reaching into her backpack and placing her books on the table.

"Yeah same here. We did some useless lab in physics."

"Ugh. And I have soccer practice later tonight."

"Suuucks for you," I say, sarcastically.

"Shut it fatty," she responds, "Besides, I thought you had practice tomorrow morning?"

"Its not going to be fun. I hate waking up early on Saturdays," I say.

"Saturday morning is my favorite time to be awake!" she says sarcastically, grinning.

"Your teeth are yellow, don't smile at me," I shoot back, grinning myself.

Doe gives me a light punch on the shoulder.

"Okay, now stop talking, I have to do this fucking stupid assignment," she says.

"Psh, you were talking too," I grumble back.

Doe punches me lightly again, and I smile, getting back to work.
