Chapter 37
by SingingLark
But would that be enough for the princess?
No
The cloak covered her shoulders and obfuscated her slim beauty. She had just bested, in a way, one of the best fighters the Nocternian Empire ever had, and still the thought of these crowd staring at her nakedness was terrifying and intrusive. Liandra stepped once, twice, and her fear made the walk royal. Liandra didn't direct a word to anyone, even her friend following her, and the silence stroke each and everyone of them as aristocratic aloofness, it belittled their presence and slurs. They were rabble, and she was a princess.
Liandra only crumbled when she finally reached back Kendra's room. She began crying and the baroness just couldn't find the words of solace to soften her pain. "I need to be alone" at some point Liandra said, and with great sorrow Kendra left.
Eventually the princess tears ran out, her eyes were sore and aching, and she felt very hungry. When she looked out the window, she thought it was night already. But then she realized it was always night in Nocternia. She looked for a servant, but there was none to be found. She looked out of the window and saw many masked individuals arriving to what appeared to be a large festival. Could all the servants be there, helping organize the party?
Liandra still hadn't worked out all her emotions, but she was tired of bitterness and regret. She selected a burgundy and emerald green dress, the jolliest she had brought. She applied some make over to hide her red eyes and, lacking a mask, dressed an elegant jeweled tiara, her 'crown' for the night.
Will Liandra be able to have fun at the party?
