The others arrive

James, Mike, Frank, Carol and Beverly arrived at the bottom of Halfdome. As they began unclipping their gear James looked around.

"Hey, wasn't Lauren ahead of us?" He asked.

"Oh yeah. Lauren?"

The others began looking around. There was a rustling sound and they all turned to see Lauren. She was standing by the bags, clutching her own backpack to herself and hunching over. She had a strange, distressed expression on her face.

"Lauren, are you okay?" Mike asked.

"Fine! Everything's fine!" Lauren snapped back, eyes wide and nervous.

"Well, that's not exactly how you wear a backpack!" Carol said with a chuckle. "Here's a hint: it goes on your back!"

"Oh, Lauren had an accident when we were climbing." Beverly said, savoring her power over Lauren.

"What sort of accident?" Frank asked.
