Get involved in their date the next day using the remote

Ruby hung out with Jaune for another thirty minutes, though she could barely concentrate on the game. Her eyes kept darting to her friend and, now, crush. The Personal Info Swap had a lot of unforeseeable results. The world adjusted to fit the new information, even herself. Fumbling with an excuse about having to meet her team, she left and slipped back into her own room, grateful it was empty. Ruby sat down on Weiss’s bed and fell backwards, looking at the bottom of her own.

“This had gotten complicated. Maybe I should never have messed with Weiss’s life.”

“Bark?” Ruby sat up and saw Zwei, her pet corgi, rubbing her leg. He may not have known what was wrong, but he knew something was. His master was upset and he was trying to cheer her up.

“Zwei, you are the sweetest thing ever!” Ruby declared and picked him up. She fell back on the bed clutching him against her chest. “What do I do? I might have made things really complicated.”

Zwei’s response was to tilt his head.

“I know, I know,” Ruby continued. “I made my bed and I have to lie in it. Maybe I could use the remote to help out or at least observe?” Zwei covered his face with his paws. “If I did observe, I would have to swap with someone else. Probably Life Swap because a Body Swap would still have others see me as me. I could swap some Personal Info with someone I guess to make me a stranger to them. Weird stuff happens when I do that though.” She scratched Zwei’s ear and he slumped down on her, content. “Sometimes, I’m jealous how easy you have it, Zwei.”

Her hand scratching his ear froze.

Would that work?

The pamphlet on the remote never forbade swaps with animals. It never even mentioned humans. The term it used was target. An animal would be a great target to test the remote on. Ruby could swap with a bird or something and just watch Weiss’s and Jaune’s date. If the opportunity presented itself, she might be able to help or hinder them. She was still conflicted and hoped she would make the right decision for her friends when the time came. This would be risky, but luckily she had a perfect test subject in front of her.
