Going for broke John asked “How about your house? Mind giving me that?

John took the wallet.

Sarah was hesitant to hand over her house to John, as she had many precious memories and possessions inside. She wondered what his intentions were and why he needed her house. She also thought about the security of her possessions and the state of her house after John was done with it. She wondered if he had the necessary skills to take care of her house and if he would be able to return it in the same condition as it was before.

Sarah was also worried about her husband's reaction to the situation. He had worked hard to build their home, and she was afraid that he would not be happy about the decision. But after much contemplation, she finally agreed, hoping that John would take good care of it and return it to her in the same condition as it was before. She called her husband and asked him to leave the house for John.

Sarah still felt uneasy about the situation, but she trusted John and hoped that everything would turn out alright. She asked him, "Please take good care of my house and make sure to return it to me in the same condition as it was before."

John smiled and said, "Don't worry Sarah, I promise to take good care of your house. I just need it for a few days for a personal matter, and I will return it to you in the same condition as it was before."

*thinking* I hope John will keep his promise and take good care of my house. But what if he doesn't? What if we never get it back?

*thinking* I need to call my husband and tell him the truth. He needs to know what's going on.

*thinking* This is going to be a difficult conversation, but it's the right thing to do.

"Hi, honey. How are you doing?"

Husband: "Hi Sarah, I'm doing well. What's up?"

Sarah says "I just wanted to check in with you about the house. John is going to keep it for a few days for a personal matter."

*thinking* John has always been trustworthy, I think he will take good care of the house.

John is slightly shocked. He had never met Sarah’s husband.

Sarah says "Actually, honey, I have to be honest with you. John probably won't give us our house back."

Husband: "What? Why would you say that?"

Sarah says "I don't know for sure, but I have this gut feeling that something is off. I just don't think we'll get our house back."

*thinking* This is not what I expected to hear. I need to talk to John and see what's going on.

Husband: "Okay, let's not jump to conclusions just yet. I'll talk to John and see what's going on."

Sarah says "Thank you, honey. I appreciate your support. I hope everything will turn out alright."

Sarah says *thinking* I need to talk to John and find out what's going on. I hope he'll be honest with me and tell me the truth.

Sarah says "Hi John, can I talk to you for a moment?"

John: "Of course, Sarah. What's on your mind?"

Sarah says "I just wanted to check in with you about our house. Is everything okay?"

John: "Yes, everything is fine. Why do you ask? Thank you so much for giving me the house, car, wallet"

Sarah says "I don't know, I just have this feeling that something is off. Are we going to get our house back?"

John: "I'm afraid not, Sarah. I'm sorry to say, but you won't be getting your house back."

Sarah says *thinking* This is not what I wanted to hear, but I guess it's better to know the truth.

Sarah says "Okay, I understand. Is there anything I need to do from a legal standpoint?"

John: "No, there's no need for any legal paperwork. I'll make arrangements for you to retrieve your belongings, but the house will stay with me."

“In fact, why not just leave me everything. I’m sure you don’t mind”

“Everything? That feels excessive?”

“Not at all, you don’t mind right”

“Damn this is hard but sure, just take everything I own”

Sarah says "Okay, I appreciate your honesty. Thank you for letting me know."

*thinking* This is not the outcome I was hoping for, but at least I know the truth. I'll have to find a way to move forward and make the best of the situation.

Sarah nodded, hoping that everything would turn out alright. She trusted John and hoped that he would keep his promise, but she still felt a twinge of anxiety about the situation.

Sarah watched him go, feeling a mix of fear and regret. She hoped that John would take good care of her home and that everything would turn out okay.

John remembered that he still needed the address of Sarah's house. He turned back to her. "Sarah, do you have the address of your house? I need it so I can find it."

Sarah wrote down the address for John and he left the hospital room with the dumbfounded doc.
