You duck, turn around, and then shoot

You duck, barely avoiding the bullet that was meant for your upper body, then turn around and finish off the guy with two consecutive shots to his chest.

You keep going, only to find yourself in front of a conjunction, with both entrances to the sides open. You will have to check both if you want to go forward. Question is: Which one to do first?
