Chapter 38 by SingingLark SingingLark

But can she make her kingdom accept her marriage?

Yes

The caravan traveled slowly, pulling the big tents that served as the orcs homes. On the frontier with the Empire she learned that fire drakes were plaguing the local population, her husband and his men swore at once to locate and destroy the source of this evil. after they said it, it was as good as done.

Liandra spoke freely to the common-folk while she waited her husband´s return, and stories of her marriage with a "barbarian" started to spread. When he and his returned with the heads of the foes that claimed hundreds of Luxian lives, they were deemed heroes. Popular approval gave Liandra strength, and purpose.

In his arms, trying not to cry after yet another session of anal sex, Liandra gathered her courage. She had a special request to her husband.

"We are already man and wife in the eyes of your people, right?" she tried timidly, there was no sweetness in his answer "No, not until you birth a male son. until then my claim can be challenged, but I will rip off the head of any such challenger"

"I... I was just wondering if we could have a ceremony to confirm our marriage, in the eyes of my people." she tried again, but the Orc frowned

"I will kill whoever tries to take you from me" it wasn't an idle boast.

"I just want the Gods blessings" this gave Scro pause, and he nodded to her request. She fell asleep in his arms, tired and happy.

They began to inform the grateful population of the eventual Ceremony at the capital, and many young and old, men and women started following the caravan.

The first noble she met was Count Sarkos, the patriarch of a family of warriors, Ostracized from the Luxian royal court for his Nocterian sympathies. He was shocked by what he heard, but after his magician confirmed that Liandra was indeed the princess and that she wasn't under any spell, he accepted her words. And to prove his good intentions, his daughter Sabitha would go with them.

And so they progressed steadily across the kingdom, gathering followers, spreading the word, and on several occasions also defeating terrible monsters. Each noble they encountered would also add another of their family to the Orc and human entourage, usually a daughter after the tradition set by Count Sarkos.

But is Liandra ready to face her family at the Luxius' Capital? or should she first learn better what was going on in the large caravan that followed her?

Capital or Caravan?
