Chapter 147 by Bigbop38 Bigbop38

What’s next?

Your fourth battle with Blue!

Blue and Violet each make their way over towards their discarded garments, with the former being in far more of a hurry. That hurry slows, however, when she catches sight if her idol bending down to retrieve her panties. You, your rival, Daniel, and Kayla all stare unabashedly as the famous young woman leans down to grab the lilac-colored fabric and then pulls it back on, sliding it up over her muscular legs and covering her womanhood from your prying eyes. Her purple, star-studded skirt gets the same treatment, and she turns around with a smirk to stare at you all knowingly. Everyone but Daniel has enough shame to blush, as you realize that Violet clearly knew exactly what you all were doing.

“You guys are cute. Your turn, dear Blue~.” The purple-haired young woman shifts her gaze exclusively onto the Pallet girl, and you and your friends follow suit, staring at the irritable blonde as a fierce blush continues to plague her face. Her muscles tense, but she manages to make do by simply staring at her idol, refusing to acknowledge all of you as she shrugs off the older girl’s purple coat and begins to redress herself. Despite her attempted defiance of your presences, she still pulls her clothes back on as rapidly as possible. Her navy blue underwear and bra come first - Kayla wolf-whistling whenever the sandy-blonde bends down - followed quickly by her gray t-shirt and blue jeans. Blue stands there, redressed but still beet-red with embarrassment, then picks up Violet’s purple coat and turns to offer it back to its owner.

The purple-eyed girl glances at the coat, then shakes her head and gives her fan a small smile. “Keep it. Purple is a good color on you, I think.”

Your rival’s brown eyes widen. “R-Really!? Can I?” At a nod from the older girl, Blue swiftly puts the coat back on, an adorable, beaming smile on her face. It fits her fairly well, with her only having to cuff the sleeves a little to make it work. “Thank you!” She really does look just so happy, it’s cute.

“You’re welcome, dear. Consider it a gift for agreeing to this battle I’ve requested. Win or lose, you’ve already gotten something special from me.” Violet says, blowing the blonde girl a kiss. “Now, speaking of the battle… are you both prepared? I’m quite interested to see two rivals like yourselves face off against one another.”

“Right… Well, are you ready, dweeb?” Blue spins on her heel to face you and steps away from her idol.

“Sure thing. That coat does look pretty good on you, by the way.” You say, in an effort to never allow the blush to leave her face.

“Of course it does! It’s Lady Violet’s!” The brown-eyed girl snaps. “It’d probably even look good on that mousy Vermillion chick over there!”

“Sure would! Better than it does on you at least!” Kayla shoots back, causing both you and Daniel to wince. These two aren’t going to stop with this anytime soon, are they? Blue really seems to bring the fire out of Kayla…

The purple-haired young woman chuckles, eyes sparkling as they flick between the two younger girls. “Oh, you two are going to be such good friends. I can tell.”

“WHAT!?” The two exclaim in unison, even Blue seeming flabbergasted by her idol’s words.

“Oh, don’t mind me. Just thinking out loud. Please, focus on the battle, pretend I’m not even here.” The Cinnabar girl says with a grin, and you can’t help but chuckle. You feel like she’s probably right; the two younger female trainers could actually get along quite well. They both have an intense drive to better themselves, a type of strength that they've forged since becoming trainers, and a tendency to act annoyed with the boy they started their journey alongside. Though Kayla’s annoyance is far more playful and good-natured than Blue’s, of course. Still, even if they can get along, they’ve had a bit of a rough start to their relationship, so that probably won’t be happening anytime soon.

The two girls huff, and Daniel grins widely. “Well, good luck Casanova. We’ll be rooting for you.”

“Please, beat her Red. Please.” The green-eyed young woman implores you, shooting another glare the sandy-blonde’s way.

“I’ll do my best. And…” You lower your voice in hopes of not being heard by anyone other than the Vermillion pair. “Sorry about her. She really only acts this bad when I’m around, promise. Try not to judge her too harshly, okay?”

The master and **** share a glance, after which the blonde boy shakes his head and the brunette scoffs. “You don’t need to defend her, Red… You’re too damn nice for your own good, you know that?”

“I’ve been told.” You reply with a smile. “Still, like I said, go easy on her. She’s not so bad once you get used to her, really.”

“If you say so…” Kayla responds, looking unconvinced.

“Hey, Casanova? Your Pikachu’s still hurt, yeah? Need a Potion?” Daniel asks.

“I actually have some on me… Guess this is the time to use one.” You’ve been trying to be as conservative as possible with the items you bought all the way back in Viridian City, since you’ve been struggling financially ever since, but now is not the time for being stingy. If you want to win with just the Pokémon you have on hand, they need to be in the best shape possible. You pull a single Potion out of your bag and use it on Pikachu’s Pokéball, healing the electric type through the device in a way you don’t really understand. But Pokétracker says your partner has been healed, so it works… somehow. Technology!

“Are you ready yet, dork!?” Blue stomps her foot impatiently, having moved to an open area a small distance away from everyone else.

Walking over to stand across from her, you reply “Sure am. Let’s both do our best.”

“Yeah, let’s. Time for your winning streak over me to end!” Your rival spits, and each of you go to grab one of your Pokéballs. Now your head starts to whir with thoughts, strategies, ideas, trying to figure out how your opponent will think and how you should react. The only Pokémon that you know Blue has for sure are Wartortle and Spearow, but there’s a good chance that she’s caught more in the days you’ve been apart. And she knows that you have an electric type after your last battle with her, which both of those Pokémon are weak to. So you feel like her leading with either of those is low, and she’ll likely start with whatever she has that she feels is best suited to fighting Pikachu. So to be safe…

Two Pokéballs are thrown into the air, and two names are shouted. “Pidgey, I choose you!” “Go, Clefairy!”

Your small brown and white bird and Blue’s pink fairy type appear on the field, and your eyes widen at the sight of the rare Pokémon that Blue must’ve caught during her trek through Mt. Moon. You were assuming that she would throw something new at you, but this is a surprise. This isn’t the time for admiring her new teammate though, it’s time to battle!

“Pidgey, use Quick Attack!” Your command starts things off, and your flying type shoots off like a bullet towards his foe.

“Clefairy, Pound!” The sandy-haired girl shouts to her partner. All at once, Pidgey slams into his opponent, just as the fairy type’s balled fist comes down and smacks him in the side. Both take damage, but the bulkier pink Pokémon comes out better than your under-trained bird. You’re not going to be able to fight this as a brawl.

“Up and away Pidgey!” You call, and the bird takes to the sky, coming to rest well above his foe. “Now, Gust!” He beats his wings rapidly, buffeting his foe with blasts of wind.

As her Pokémon endures the ****, Blue orders it to “Use Sing!” The pink Pokémon begins to release a soothing, lullaby-like melody into the air in an attempt to put your partner to sleep. Luckily, the distance between the two and the sound of Pidgey’s Gust are enough to render the song useless. The blonde clicks her tongue, then gives a new command. “Disarming Voice!” Clefairy shifts from humming harmoniously to shrieking loudly, and the fairy type attack that can’t miss rips through the air and into your flying type’s ears.

Both Pokémon have sustained more serious damage at this point, but Pidgey still looks like he’s taken the worse end of this fight. Another Disarming Voice will almost certainly knock him out, so you order him to get in one last burst of damage with a Quick Attack. As he rams his body into his opponent’s, the pink Pokémon screams once more, indeed causing the bird to faint. Blue’s partner is definitely tired, but yours is down for the count.

You recall the fainted flying type, and your rival smirks. “That all you’ve got? This’ll be simple!” Her brown eyes flick over to Violet, as if to check whether or not she’s watching. Which she is of course, and she gives her fan a bright smile when she notices her gaze. Blue clenches her fist, grin widening. “Send out whatever else you want, it’s not going to make a difference!”

Well, she certainly seems hyped up. Her earlier nerves seem to have left her, and having her idol watching as she gets off to an early lead looks to be boosting her confidence. Still, this isn’t over. “Pikachu, let’s go!” You cry, sending out your only other option as your second and final Pokémon in this bout. Your electric rat takes to the battlefield, red cheeks sparking slightly as she readies herself for battle.

You have an idea in mind, and the first step is getting in close. “Use Quick Attack!” In a yellow flash, Pikachu closes the distance between her and Clefairy, tackling the wounded fairy type.

“Thunder Wave!” “Pound!”

Your and Blue’s next commands come simultaneously, with her partner managing to land a smack on Pikachu while she emits small waves of sparking yellow energy, paralyzing her opponent. “Back out, Pikachu, then start Thundershocking!” Your electric type heeds your call, using her high speed to dash back out of Pound range and start shooting thin bolts of lightning towards the pink Pokémon.

As the electric attacks come in, your rival orders her weakening fairy type to use Disarming Voice, but it’s in vain. Paralysis prevents her Pokémon from striking, and a final bolt of lightning sends Clefairy to the ground. “Great work Clefairy, come back.” The busty blonde says, returning her fallen partner to its ball. This is good, you’ve evened things up… But Pikachu did take a hit in that fight, and she’s already not the sturdiest Pokémon around. The big question is; does Blue only have Pokémon weak to electricity left? Or does she have another new partner up her sleeve? That could decide this whole thing.

You’re not left to wonder for long, as Blue quickly grabs her second ball off of her belt and releases her next Pokémon… which is also a new addition, making your mind race as you try and figure out how to deal with it. “Go, Nidorina!” The brown-eyed girl cries as she sends out her next Pokémon, a light blue colored poison type.

Your thought process ends on one idea; repeat your previous strategy. You need to cripple this thing if you want Pikachu to stand a chance, so you can’t risk Thunder Wave missing. Time to go point-blank. “Quick Attack!” Just like before, the yellow rat rushes in like a flash, slamming into her foe. Only this time, she winces in pain as she makes contact, and a sickly pallor falls over her face. Shit, Nidorina’s Poison Point ability… That’s an issue.

“Thunder Wave!” “Double Kick!”

Again, you and Blue give your next commands, with Pikachu paralyzing her foe just as it spins around, balancing on its forelimbs as both of its legs pummel your partner. The impacts are heavy, and Pikachu staggers back even as Nidorina stiffens from her attack. Poison versus Paralysis, a ticking clock against the potential to seize up and do nothing…

Backing out with Quick Attack will just give the poison time to damage your electric type, and she isn’t looking healthy enough to risk that. Your only chance - however slim - is to deal as much damage as you can, as quickly as possible. “Thundershock, Pikachu!” Wobbling on her feet and looking sick, your Pokémon still does as she’s told, blasting her foe with an electric shock, causing it to wince.

The poison type still seems fairly steady however, and Pikachu’s body twitches as she takes damage from the toxin in her system. You really need Nidorina to be stunned by paralysis this turn if you want to stand a chance of winning. “Double Kick again!” Your rival shouts, and for a brief moment it feels like time slows. Moment of truth…

*WHAM* A single kick is all it takes to knock Pikachu off her feet as the enemy poison type manages to push through paralysis and land its attack. Your electric rat hits the dirt, slumping in unconsciousness as the poison and energy fade from her body. Nidorina stands strong, panting and paralyzed, but clearly still ready for more. Not that you have anymore to throw at it. This was a 2v2, and that was your second Pokémon. So this is over.

You’ve lost, and Blue’s won.
