Chapter 6 by Koriandr Koriandr

Where did Dick wind up?

The Boys' Earth (Dark Horse Comics)

Nightwing felt his very being drifting away from the two brothers.

Instead, he found himself hurdling toward a third brother. One neglected by his siblings, not even considered to have a dog in the fight when red and blue came to blows. Perhaps because he was unjustly seen as inferior? In spite of his two older siblings, he sought to mock them. They were so proud of the heroes they created. He made heroes of his own. Parodies of their heroes embracing the fallacies of the worlds his brothers held so near and dear to their hearts.

Dick saw visions of this world's history. He could see that it was similar to where he came from but starkly different where it mattered. There weren't any kryptonians or batmen or a Justice League. Instead the people of earth relied on corporate sponsored heroes. Superhumans modified at birth to obtain their powers just to grow up to be bought and paid for sellouts. The Seven was the premier superhero team, yet they seemed to be more interested in movie deals and photo ops than saving lives.

Dick was sickened by what he saw yet it was only exasperated by what the "heroes" got up to in their spare time. ****, theft, and other heinous acts were only the tip of the iceberg.

As a kid, he looked up to Superman, the pinnacle of hope. He inspired Dick to not become too much like Batman. Dick derived the name Nightwing from an old story Clark told him of two heroes on Krypton. Naturally, he was appalled to see people were wearing capes and basking in the admiration of the public without contributing at all to society.

These weren't heroes. Just super celebrities.
