Chapter 16
by SingingLark
Will Liandra finally say something?
Good Luck
They slept, but Liandra only grew certain she was the real princess. She didn't think any of her companions would believe her, in fact she didn't think anyone would believe her. So she decided to slip away.
It was far easier than she could have hoped. Altima´s body remembered her woodcraft, and she moved soundlessly even over fallen leafs. Liandra could never shake the sense something was dogging her, so she didn't stop for a day and a night.
Eventually she found an abandoned hut in the middle of the forest, and decided she needed a place to rest. She barricaded herself in, closed her eyes and slept. She was almost surprised that she woke up.
The hut was indeed abandoned, and had been so for at least for a decade or more. It must have been a hunting lodge in ages past, for Liandra found several arrows, cloaks, boots and bows.
Liandra felt terribly hungry, and thirsty, so decided to brave outside. She didn't need to look far for a fountain, water sprouted from the rocks pure and pristine. She also found game in the forest, and was surprised to see she knew how to clean and prepare the meet. Perhaps, Liandra though as she had dinner, she could be happier living in the forest, like this.
And she did thrive. A month went by, and her former companions didn't find her. Liandra had long decided she couldn't trust them, so she created many traps that would capture whoever tried to approach her new home. Her new body had powerful urges, and only constant exercise released enough endorphin to partially sate her lust. With such necessary discipline, it shouldn't have been a surprise that Liandra perfected even more her body´s weapon prowess.
It was in her second month in the hunting lodge when she noticed the wolf tracks. A single wolf, but of huge proportions.
What will Liandra do about this 'wolf'?
