7. Eve is at her desk by your office, but so is your boss.

You hustle into your office to discover that your boss is waiting for you. You wince internally; you aren’t running that late but it isn’t in your character generally.

“Haggard, I wanted to ask about the status of your market research team.”

Tension releases, he doesn’t seem angry. “Oh yeah, of course. I’ve recruited Simone, but I’m still filling things out.”

“Good, she’ll be an asset. But I want you to hurry things along. We’ll be interviewing interns for this quarter. Why don’t you join us for that?”

You glance briefly at Eve. You wanted to have her take some dictation this morning, but the idea of interns is attractive.

“Sure thing, when does that start?”

“Noon.” Your boss claps you on the shoulder and walks off. Noon. You have a few hours.

You turn to your secretary, “Eve, my office.”
