Jack

When Shepard decided to retain Jack onboard the Normandy, it came with a private understanding. Shepard wanted to see Jack evolve into something more than what Cerberus had created, more than the shaved-headed punk girl with tattoos who liked hurting people, but she also knew full well that wouldn't happen until Jack herself decided to change. So until then, Shepard was going to keep a very tight grip on Jack's very short leash. Fine. Jack could live with that. She would listen to Shepard, but only to Shepard. Anyone else tried to order her around and they'd be put through a wall. Only Shepard got to tell her what to do. She was her attack dog, no one else's. That was the rule.

Or so she thought.
