Enjoy the normality and have a little talk

The location where the pack meeting is going to happen is several hours away. The first hour you spent listening to music and chatting about god and the world. It seems to be a normal road trip, despite the fact that you have two fairies at the back seat. Sammy and Alric even performed a dance in the air while a good song was in the radio.

“Well, Jenny, how many werewolfes are there in your pack?” you ask to get the topic back to magic world, “and are they all like you?”

“When we lose control over night, then yes, there is little difference in behavior,” Jenny answers, “despite this, there are 46 werewolfes, seven human including you, five fairies including Alric, one gorgon and one witch. Maybe the vampire Oliva attends to the meeting too, but I’m not sure about this. All of them disguise their monstrous side but despite this, there is little similarity. Some are like me and made peace with the fact that they can never have a normal life or family. Others are quite aggressive because of their situation and some still have hope that there is a cure for them. But all pack members agreed to never hurt a human if not necessary. Believe me, the worst fear is that we could hurt or kill our beloved ones one day.”

“Are there no mermaids in your pack?” you joke to lighten the mood.

“The meeting is in a forest,” Jenny replies surprising bitter after a moment of silence, “they can’t survive outside of the sea for long.”

“Wait, mermaids exist,” you ask surprised, “are they friendly towards humans?”

“Yes, mermaids exist and the aggressive ones are called sirens,” Jenny answers not very happy, “they lure human under water to drown them for fun. And now we will not talk about them anymore.”

The way she says this clearly means, that this topic is over. You are not sure why, but you better change the topic before Jenny gets upset.

“Who has bitten you?” you ask carefully, “and if I meet him or her, how should I react?”

“His name is Noah,” Jenny tells you and sounds concerned, “I … I forgave him, some years ago. When I met him first time, our pack leader Eric had to hold me back. I was still a child but I made him responsible for my mother leaving us and my dad fearing me. I wanted to kill him for what he did to me. But later I realized that he had no control over himself. I understood it, when I killed my first deer.”

“The same night she met me,” Sammy interrupts cheerfully, “she was nervously completely at the end. But I showed her the beautiful side of magic. And helped her wipe the blood. And from this day I had a human friend that could buy me doll things.”

“You are such a cadger,” Jenny laughs, “but yes, thanks to her and thanks to you I was strong enough to continue and even forgive Noah. So please don’t blame him for anything. It is not his fault.”

You nod and want to ask more questions, but suddenly your girlfriend drives off the highway and stops at a gas station with a small shop and a small fast food restaurant. You notice that the car is running out of gas.

“Ok, guys, let’s share work,” Jenny proposes, “Max, you could get us something to eat from the fast food restaurant over there. You know what I like, fairies are vegetarians, no sugar for Sammy or she goes off like a gerbil on caffeine shock. I will refill the car in the meanwhile. Sammy, Alric, you can either help us or watch the people around. I don’t think there is anything dangerous around, but I would hate to get surprised.”
