Into the Maw

Drek is piloting the ship, but he is very concerned about the whole flight as you are about to leave the usual hyperspace route.

Drek: I can't believe you made me do this...! The Maw is famous for being the single deadliest black hole filled area of the whole galaxy! We have maximum 1 in a million chance to go in there and return alive!

Lana: Calm down Drek, we got this compass for a reason! Let's hope it works though...

Ranvi: I trust Mother Talzin, she wouldn't send us there if she wasn't certain about this thing!

Drek: Give it here, I'll adjust the ship's autopilot to be following the directions of that compass. If we are lucky, we might make it out alive...

Ranvi: Have a little more faith! We'll be fine!

Drek: Just to let you know, the first moment this compass is taking us too close to a black hole, I'll turn around and navigate the ship back myself and we will be done here! Understood?!

Lana: My goodness Drek, take it easy! We have had worse!

Drek: You weren't the ones, who read about the stories of those who were flying around here! That cluster is filled with summa-verminoths! Those are gigantic species with numerous eyes and huge electrical tentacles! No pilot ever wants to meet one of those, being torn apart and eaten by one of those could be the only worst **** out there, even worse than being sucked in by a black hole! That's why they stick to the ordinary Kessel run route!

The summa-verminoths are creatures, that adopted to space conditions. They spend most of their life sleeping, until awaken by something, that they usually eat, due to the size difference. They live in the Maw Cluster, but some of their species have migrated to other locations in the galaxy.

Lana: I guess being eaten by a Sarlacc is worse than that! Being digested for a thousand years sounds like a **** that really sucks...

Ranvi: Agreed!

Drek: Fine, good point, but you have 0 chance of being eaten by a Sarlacc here, yet a very high one of being eaten by something bigger!

Lana: Just keep the ship flying and stop worrying already!

Drek: Don't tell me later that I haven't warned you!

He connect the compass into the navigation system, it begins driving the ship off route and right into the unmapped area of the cluster. The nebula around the ship limits your vision, yet the ship keeps autopiloting itself regardless of the lack of visibility. Drek wanted to turn the whole thing off, but you and Ranvi dragged him away from the controls. Sometimes the nebula allows you to see further than a few meters in front of you, but in those occasions all you can see are black holes all around you in every direction.

Lana: Riiight, well... At least we are driving through the middle avoiding them yes...? Maybe it was better when I didn't see them all around us...!

Drek: Told you we are going to die...! I don't even know how it's possible to be driving so close to so many black holes...! Maybe their pulling effects are mitigated by each other, creating a safe path here...

Ranvi: Look, there's something in the distance! It looks like a space station!

Lana: A space station...? Here, at the middle of nowhere...?!

Drek (checking the map in the navicomputer): This place is way off the map, whatever's out there, it hasn't been explored by the Republic yet... Hm, I receive a signal from the space station. It's called... Sinkhole Station...

Lana: Is it manned by friends or enemies...?

Drek: Probably neither, the station seems to be feeding on the nearby electromagnetic storms to power it, hence it can send the signal. But this code is ancient... I have never seen such an old code before...! It dates back way before the Republic itself!

Lana: Better be on our guard then! We have no idea what's down there!

The compass points right at the direction of the space station. After you leave the path surrounded by black holes, Drek takes charge of the ship and navigates it to the space station. He lands at a dock and you all leave the ship. You find nobody around and decide to go and explore the station to find something about the Mother and how to stop her.
