6. You’re interrupted by your boss.

At that moment your boss pokes his head around the corner. “Ed, need you a sec.”

You groan internally but leave your secretary unpacking her things and settling in for the morning. Leo Todd is an older man who frankly you’re hoping will retire or die soon so you could be up for his job. You follow him to his office and take a seat across the table.

“This’ll be quick, I just want you to take the lead on something new.”

Leo outlines a new marketing project that you’ll be spearheading. The bank needs a better understanding of its potential customer base and growth vectors and you’ll have full discretion to put together a team to work on this. This is an exciting opportunity for your career and, you think to yourself, getting closer to some of the women in the office.

You leave Leo’s office and scan the cubicle farm.
