Chapter 3

What's next?
I refuse to be like my Father, let's test this myself
David, got themselves home and in a small holder of the bike was a large book of instructions, it was sodden slightly from the rain, but after drying out over the heater, most of it was readable. The more David read, the more he began to wonder, if this was really capable of this? Would it be right to use it on another person, on one hand there fantasies and then there was realities. If he dared move fiction to reality, woul that make him any better than his Father. Flashes of the late nights he heard the arguments, the screaming from his Mother. Was that really the kind of person he wanted to emulate, wanted to resemble, not at all.
No, this bike was a means to an end, a way for him, to finally become a better person. There was nothing to indicate from the faded manual to indicate that this bike would effect them.
The fact he had even considered doing those things made him feel sick. There was a time to be a better man, and this was one of those moments, moments of clarity. Standing up, he walked over to his drawers and started digging out an outfit. Something that resembled a work out costume. An old pair of joggies and a random Metallica band tee.
It wasn't the greatest, but it work for what he wanted.
David, approached the beast and hesitated, he was a man. A guy, this thing only effected women right?
Maybe he should just throw it away, then he remembered those screams, as he tried to sleep upstairs. The yelling and swearing, the thin walls. Eventually she had just left, leaving him to be raised by that 'man' that person. No, if this was really as powerful as that, then he fully intended to make sure no one else could use it. His Mother deserved a son who was nothing like that 'man'.
Exhaling, he clambered on to the bike and started up, the console on the bike, lit up, and had a warning in red. He skipped over it, refusing to be cowed and read the screen, 'Welcome New User You Have Chosen to Begin a Transition.' scoffing, he typed his name into panel and indicated exercise regiment he intended to do. Once again something flashed up, a EULA and immediately, David skipped over it. All he wanted to do was lose some weight.
After some more screens he barely acknowledged, the Bike indicated he could start. At once, as he pedalled, he found himself growing even more disgusted by his Dad. To think he even looked up to him, how he had driven his Mum away. That was no man, no that was the thing of nightmares. No, he would become ten times the man his Father was.
It was weird, how simply exercising on this, was allowing David to acknowledge trauma. For so long the dreams and memories had plagued him, but he had always made excuses about his Dad. He had believed that this was the way 'men' were meant to be. Now, he suddenly had such a profound understanding, it was like the arrogance and stubborness he once exhibited was vanishing.
Maybe, this would alarm him, but normally David gave up on things. He was so used to just quitting, but for once in his life he felt inspired, enegerized even. It was like this Bike was indeed magical. To think he was going to be selfish with it, initially. But here he was improving himself, and frankly he felt so much better, like a million bucks.
Depression had always been a huge weight over his shoulders, but for once in his life, he felt how to put it content? He would improve himself mentally, and physically. No longer would David let these things torment him. As weird as it sounds, the exercise was like **** or ****. His endorphines were exploding at such tremendous rate, he truly doubted that he would ever be miserable again. If he kept up with this, then there is no doubt he would find a partner. But first, he had to improve himself and this Bike was allowing this.
Getting off, after about an hour, David stretched, his body ached, but he felt wonderful.
Falling down on the couch, he turned on the TV, and flipped the channels, until he saw what his once derogatorily called 'Chick Flicks' a Romcom, but today he was so happy, he felt he could sit through something like this. As the film progressed, he found himself wondering why he had even been so judgemental about these shows. It wasn't an amazing story, but it was compelling in a really odd way. The story while not Shakespear, sure kept his attention. He even found himself laughing at some of the jokes. And yes, even crying. He even found himself thinking that these were the sort of men really wanted to emulate.
David watched the whole movie, losing track of time, and falling asleep, tomorrow begins the future of his entire life.
Does David keep using it?
