Morning Coffee and Hugs

You wake the next morning to a bright slit of light coming through your blinds and warming your face. Momentarily dazzled you shade your face. You have a splitting headache and a terrible kink in your neck. You remember you spent the whole evening in the ancient easy chair in the corner of your tiny lounge. You recall you had started doing research, had had a few scotches and then a few more.

Groaning you get up. You’re still wearing your now thoroughly crumpled suit. On the sofa lightly snoring, almost purring is Cindy. Your morning wood twitches slightly and an evil part of you regrets your noble decision last night. You banish the thought and make two mugs of coffee.

When you return Cindy is awake with her head and shoulders out of the bed. She is scrambling on the floor evidently looking for something. You take a guess. “I put your GAME Tracker on charge last night” you say unplugging it and tossing it to the Latina who has turned and sat up startled. She instinctively catches the device and then backs up on the sofa pulling the blankets high about her.

“Relax. My name is Mason. Mason Holland. I saw that those assholes at the bar had spiked your drink.”

“So, you thought you’d take advantage?” said Cindy suspiciously.

“I thought I’d save you from the jock asshole.”

“Sam” Cindy says with a sour look.

“Right Sam. Saving you from Sam running a train on you and making you his ****.”

“And once you got me back here you didn’t have the same idea?”

“Not my style honey.”

“So, you didn’t leave with me when I approached you at the bar, and you didn’t **** yourself on me last night. Are you gay?”

“No. And honey, if you think the only reason a guy wouldn’t take advantage of a sleeping woman is because they are gay then I hate to break it you but you’ve got shitty taste in men.”

You hold out a cup of coffee which she takes “Thank you" she says. "Really.”

“Well don’t thank me yet. I’m no white knight. I did have an ulterior motive. It just wasn’t getting in your panties.” You give her an appreciative look “At least not yet. I’m a PI.”

Cindy looks puzzled so you hand her one of your business cards and briefly explain what a PLAY Investigator is.

“Ok” said Cindy “but what does this have to do with me?”

“Nothing. Kind of. Truth is I may not have planned to **** you but that doesn’t mean saving you was entirely altruistic. You have a friend called Diana?”

Cindy nodded, the suspicious look returning on her face “She’s my roommate. What’s she to you?”

“Nothing directly. But she is a **** in a sub/dom relationship with a goth girl called Grace. I need you to get me close to this goth chick. In return I’ll help you with your predicament with Mandy.”

Cindy pursed her lips “You’re planning to hurt this Grace?”

“Not exactly. She stole, well won, something from someone. A client actually. They’ve hired me to get it back for them.”

“What about Diana?” asked Cindy.

“Like I say, Diana hasn’t gotten anything to do with it. I give you my word that Diana won’t get in trouble.”

Although you meant that in principle it was too bad your word wasn’t worth shit. That you didn’t tell Cindy.

Cindy nodded “Ok. I guess it’s the least I can do for saving my ass last night.” The cute cheerleader extended her hand and you shook on it. “What do you need from me? And more importantly how exactly can you help with the Mandy situation?”

“This big goth chick Grace, is a senior and a member of her dormitory residency Council. How or why she got that position I have no idea. But it means she has more than a little pull with who gets to join the dormitory, especially mid-term transfers of mature students. I need you to speak to Diana and tell her you know a mature student who has found himself without a place to stay and if as a favour Grace could arrange for me to join the dorm.”

“Sounds doable” said Cindy. “Should I tell her that Mason Holland PI came to my rescue?” she said with a flirtatious smile.

“No. Don’t use my real name. Say my name is, uh, Richard Hunting. I’ve got some connections with the Admissions and Records department so it will check out. I’m a mature student studying Law. Tell Diana I’m a hook up and a really impressive lay. Like really good in bed. Massive dick. You basically creamed yourself at the chance to help me out.”

Cindy laughed at my cocky suggestion and threw a sofa pillow at me “Shut up. I’ll tell her something.”

Just then your phone goes off with an angry buzz. It’s a message from Professor Cantu. She wanted to see you immediately. That was rarely good news.

“Ok, listen” you say “I have somewhere I need to be. You’re more than welcome to stay but I only have coffee and a couple of pop tarts to offer breakfast-wise”

“I’ll pass” said Cindy “What time is it?”

“11:20 in the am.”

“11:20, shit!” Says Cindy “I’ve already missed two tutorials and a lecture.” She spent a frantic two minutes scrambling for her stuff before heading to the front door. Unexpectedly she stops and comes back. She gives you a brief hug and a peck on the cheek. “Seriously Mason, thank you. I’ll speak with Diana.” And with that she was gone.

You grin. Things were starting to heat up. You grab your hat and head over to the Faculty Head Offices to see what Professor Cantu has to say.
