Getting back at daddy
A girl just wants to have fun
All I can think about is relaxing while I finish scrubbing the last cooking pot. It’s always me that has to clean up after dinner. Of course, I have to clean up after everything anyways.
My dad walks into the room. I hate him. He’s in his mid fifties, a clean cut corporate salesman with a little bit of a belly and a little bit of grey in his hair. He looks at me with his typical frown. The way his face wrinkles makes him look ugly.
“Maddie?” He asks me.
“Yes?” I ask.
“You were supposed to vacuum the living room today, why isn’t it done? And the laundry!” He questions.
“I- I still need to finish my lab calculations for AP chemistry.” I answer.
“You should have finished your homework before dinner.” He scowls. “How are you gonna have time for your chores?”
“I had more homework than normal today, I’m in five AP classes..” I start to defend myself.
“Don’t raise your voice at me, young lady!” He yells. “Now this is what’s gonna happen. You’re gonna finish your homework, then you’re gonna vacuum the living room, then you’re gonna fold that basket of socks! Then you’re gonna study until bedtime, got it?”
“Yes.” I say, hanging my head and heading upstairs.
