Counterattack!

"So what? We get to decide whether to receive a bullet to the head or a claw in the back?"

"Yeah! That's not much of a choice..."

You simply shrug your shoulders. "Someone has to do it. Someone has to be the first. You can think of it like this: The better job you do, the faster the mission will finish, and the better future your kids will have..."

You know it's mostly bullshit, but you need them next to you. You can't do this alone. You had the same thoughts, but there is no safe path to safety this time. Even if you surrender to the enemy, there is no guarantee they will not just eliminate you after you give them the information. After all, they are planning to cleanse the earth of werewolves. Hiding is pointless, as you would be found easily by any vampire, as they remain in power and rule the world from the shadows.

And it's not like it's a **** sentence. You may gain recognition and advance up the ladder if you do a good job. Or at least that's what you tell yourself to motivate yourself.

Eventually, you end the meeting after you give them the plan and send them back to ponder. Tired of reading and thinking about what could go wrong, you decide to relax together with the girls. You feel like going crazy if you spend just one more hour reviewing that damn plan.

With a day left before the attack, you find yourself eating together with your group at the canteen. The TV blasts the news in the corner, discussing another attack and the importance of "saving" the infected. The host seems to wait for the EU representative to start her speech at whatever gathering they are having.

You've never cared about politics before, but now that it directly affects your life, you've started to pay attention.

"Is this what growing up is like?" You chuckle to yourself.

A beautiful blonde lady walks towards the podium with four other people. Two old guys, a younger man, and another young lady. The blonde goes to the mic first, while the others stay behind her, making sure they are still in the frame.

Five minutes into her speech, you see her stop and look towards the exit. The room becomes noisy, and two security guards who are near the podium start to leave. They go towards the entrance, but before they can get there, the door blasts open, and four masked people barge in. They all have a bag in their hands and take out some kind of canister from inside it. They spread out, moving fast while dropping them on the ground.

They are immediately greeted with bullets, and some get hit. One of them is unlucky enough to get hit in the head and drops to the ground immediately. It is clear that there is no second plan and that they went there to die, as they find themselves encircle and eliminated. The TV channel hurried to change back to the studio immediately as the shooting started but failed and they ended up showing how the men were gunned down.

"I just can't get used to that bed; my back hurts like hell."

"You're a werewolf. How can a bed hurt your back?"

" I don't know... and my neck was stiff in the morning..."

"At least it's better than the prison cell, right?" Jenny and Leyla are enjoying their discussion, totally unaware of what just happened live on TV.

"No fucking way..." you murmur and interrupt their discussion as you stare at the screen with a disbelief expression plastered all over your face.

"Huh?"

"What's wrong?"
