Open the box

Vanessa was so excited when she got home to finally explore what she had purchased. While she had only purchased the machine on a whim, the curiousity had built in her all day as she carried the box around. Vanessa bounced through the front door of her house, box in hand when she saw a note from her parents on the table. It was to inform her that they were going on a business trip for work and would be gone for a week. This was nothing unusual to Vanessa, her parents were out on business trips all the time. While this would normally make her feel lonely, this time it gave her some privacy to experiment with her purchase. Dashing to her bedroom, she quickly tore into the box and started taking out the machine. The machine looked just like a metal box, but Vanessa could tell that there were a variety of compartments due to splits in the plates. Also inside Vanessa found a small instruction manual. Flipping through the manual, Vanessa saw that the machine was called “Automated Personal Farm” and claimed to be able to complete any job a farm could require. Vanessa was surprised that this machine could do all that it claimed, but she assumed that is had limits. The manual explained that she needed to download an app on her phone to connect to the machine. Once she did that, the machine came to life. The metal box was not much bigger than her head but it had so much potential. Also inside the box was a few tests for Vanessa to try, it came with a bunch of chemicals but also some pots, seeds, and soil. According to the manual, all she had to do is place the materials out near the machine and press a button on her phone for it to scan it’s surroundings. It would automatically detect relevant work to be done and go about the necessary steps to complete the farm process. Vanessa did see a warning that stated once the scan is initiated, the machine will keep scanning for any new jobs to complete automatically. Vanessa assumed this wouldn’t cause any issues, so she quickly placed the seeds, pot, and soil on the ground and began the scan. Immediately a line of blue light scanned around the entirety of Vanessa’s room. It took only a minute for the process to complete. The machine then began its first job. Vanessa watched on in wonder as panels on the machine opened up to reveal robotic arms. The arms quickly got to work, tearing open the bag of soil and seeds and poured the soil into the provided pots. The arms then carefully planted each seed in the soil and sprinkled them with water. The machine even placed the pots on her windowsill and opened the blinds so that in the morning the sunlight would be on the plants. This all happened in a matter of minutes, and Vanessa sat there is awe of the technological marvel that was before her. She definitely did not regret her purchase one bit. For how much the machine had cost, Vanessa felt like she paid only a fraction of what the machine should’ve been worth. Vanessa knew should would have a lot of fun with this.
