After Dinner

Dinner has passed and now everyone’s in the living room, Henry and Michael have had a couple adult beverages (Michael a few more), and they’re all having a good time talking. Michael pipes in, “Man, all of you guys are great. I like you.”

Jacob and Lance smile, “Same to you, you’re pretty cool.” says the older son. “Thanks! So like, after our little talk earlier I had a thought. I uh, I wanna see your dad wrestle…” Michael squeezes Henry’s thigh, Lance chuckles. “Oh really? You guys gonna have a match?” Michael shakes his head “No no. I wanna See him wrestle. I like to grapple your old man in a different way…” Henry chuckles, his sons roll their eyes.

“So I was hoping you boys would tussle with your old man. Eh? Should be fun I think!” Michael says enthusiastically. Lance and Jacob are both trepidatious, “I dunno. I’m a little rusty” Lance says, “And I’ve never been good at it.” Jacob adds. Michael waves his hand dismissively.

“Oh come on, don’t be pussies. Tell you what, how about we make it a little more interesting?” Henry raises his eyebrows, “How about if either of you can beat your dad, I’ll do whatever you want me to, hm?” Henry puts his hand in Michael’s shoulder, “What do you mean?” “Yeah, what do you mean?” Lance chimes in. “I mean exactly what I said, babe. If either of these boys can beat you in a match, I’ll do whatever they want. Boys think of this as your chance to become the Man of the house!”

Henry shrugs and looks at his sons, “Well, what do you think, boys?” After a moment, Lance agrees, “Yeah I’m in. Let’s do it.” Jacob is more nervous, thinking hard, “Come on little bro, this will be fun!” His brother encourages him. Jacob finally nods and says “Okay.” Michael claps like an excited child, “Great! Let’s get you started! I can’t wait.”
