Seeing emotions

John settled himself in class, proceeding about his day like any other going through his lessons while only half paying attention.

Meanwhile, I used this opportunity to use the influence link to connect with peoples minds, though I could only see emotions, it was still interesting to see peoples internal reactions and what they truly think inside their minds rather than only what they show on the surface.

There was a few surprises in that some of my confident classmates had anxiety, and a quiet classmate was seemed to actually have confidence. The bullies were predictably insecure, though there was one or two that seemed to be genuinely hateful.

My friends were people whose minds I kept coming back to, interested to see the true feelings and know who they truly were as people. Even if it was a breach of privacy, it's not like John himself would know, so I suppose it's fine as it's not like I will be telling anyone the information that I would get from peeking into others minds.

It was interesting to see my friends emotions but nothing was really too surprising and mostly fell in line with what I knew about them or what I thought about them.

My focus once again was Jess, specifically what she thought about John, wondering how much of an effect my influence the previous day had. She seemed to occasionally take a longer look at him than normal and her emotions seemed to be more curious than anything, not quite having a crush just yet.

Finishing my spying, I influenced Jess once more and tried to make sure that the influence power would work.

"You like John and wouldn't mind dating him."

The influence took effect and I was cut off from seeing into people's minds, but Jess seemed to be a little more honest than she normally is, stealing a glance at John that causes a blush to spread across her face, before trying to steel herself and controlling her emotions. I knew now, it had worked.
