Go Back Inside

You push the mower back into the shed and walk inside, blessed by the feeling of the AC hitting your skin.

“Grandma! I’m done!” You shout inside, “Oh that’s good, sweetie. Let me come look.” Lauren comes out from the kitchen holding a Mikes hard lemonade that she’s been drinking. She looks at you, shirtless and sweaty, “Well my-my, aren’t you handsome?” She says playfully, “I bet you were a lady killer back in school.”

Lauren looks out the door and sees the yard, “I wouldn’t say you’re done at all. The grass still needs to be raked up! I can’t have all that cut grass smothering my good grass.”

You groan, “Come on, do I really have to? It’s so hot out there.” Lauren looks at you disapprovingly, “Welcome to the world, my boy. Where we don’t accept half done jobs because it’s hard. Think I got rich by rolling my eyes and not wanting to work?” You shake your head, “Come on, can I at least have a break?”
