So so

Head over to cooking class. Which is quick to get to as I don’t have to go to my locker. Actually one of the first ones there. Heading into the classroom I see mr Harley behind his desk. Probably getting some paperwork or something done. Don’t usually see him there as he prefers standing or in the kitchen cooking. There are a couple other students here too. They probably came right after lunch like I did. Don’t see April yet though. She is usually the first one here. Not going to worry too much about it though. Sitting down in my seat and wait until class starts. Don’t want to take anything out yet because im not sure what he has scheduled for today. Because yesterday I had to get April caught up. Looking out the door into the hallway to see who else is coming in. See Gerald talking to Christine. They make a good couple. Haven’t talked to Christine for a couple years but we are still on talking terms. But since she started dating Gerald it seems she is just more involved in that relationship. Wonder how his cooking is doing and has he learned to slow down more in making things. Have to ask one day. Which I know he wants to impress her more. But after 2 years of dating I think it’s serious relationship already. Ah here comes April. She seems a bit slow today like she is taking her time. Wonder if something is wrong. Not that she would necessarily tell me though. But she doesn’t seem herself. As April comes into the classroom she sees me and looks like she wants to say something but instead she turns and goes to sit down in her seat. Which normally she would go to talk to mr Harley. But not today. Yeah something is wrong.

“Ms sanders and ms Sorenson can I see you for a moment “ mr Harley says. “Sure” I say as I get up and head over to his desk. April doesn’t say anything but just gets up and goes to the desk. “Now that the whole dare thing is done with yesterday I expect you two to help step up and help your fellow students to improve their skills “ mr Harley says. “Sure mr Harley no problem “ I say while April remains silent. Definitely something is wrong. “But first I need you two to head up and get some items from the garden “ mr Harley says “both of us “ I ask “yes as it will be faster to get everything done “ mr Harley says. “Here is the list and the basket “ mr Harley says handing both over to us. “And here are hall passes just in case “ mr Harley says handing them to us “ Ok “ I say as I grab everything and head out of the classroom. April follows but don’t look like she is in a rush Head down the halls to the stairs to the roof and head on up. Once up there we head over to the garden and I read off what we need. Looking and seeing that certain things are in one area while others are in another area. So I suggest that I go to this area and she goes to the other area so we can get everything done quickly. She doesn’t say anything but just goes to that area and starts working. Which I go to my area and start work as well. This is unlike April as she loves to take control over what is going on and tell people what to do. Have to figure this out. But first have to get this stuff for mr Harley.

After we get everything done which doesn’t take very long at all we start heading towards the stairs. “April whats wrong “ I stop and ask her directly. “Who are you?” April says. “What do you mean?” I say puzzled.”your part of the upper class but don’t show it and you have your own business but also have good friends in and outside of your status “ April starts to say “I just don’t get it because I wasn’t taught this growing up and then I meet you and now I don’t know what to think “ April continues to say “and then I saw you at the club yesterday with mr skinner and Mrs Carolyn doing the fundraiser naked like it was natural “ April says “who does that “ April continues saying. Didn’t know she was there but then again wasn’t paying too much attention. Looking directly into April eyes “I was taught growing up that it’s not your status that counts but what you do that counts because people will see you more in what you do then what family you are in” I start to say “and yes family is important but it’s how you treat people that stands out more “ I continue saying. “This is all new to me “ April says “can you teach me “ April asks. “I can help guide you but it will be up to you as to what happens “ I say “that’s all I’m asking is a chance to learn “ April says. “Very well “ I say “but first we need to get back to class as mr Harley is waiting for us and we can talk some on the way “ I say “ok” April says with a smile.

We head down the stairs and down the hall while talking. Seems April went to private school before coming here so the only people she knew growing up was of her status. Her parents enrolled her here to try to teach her about how other people outside their status were. Which didn’t work until she found out about me. Not sure how this will work out yet but have to wait and see. Which there are other students of her status here but she just doesn’t know that yet. Like Carol and Rebecca for example. But I am not going to reveal them.

Getting back to the classroom “ah there you two are “ mr Harley starts to say “put the stuff on the front table and grab your books then meet with the other students in the kitchen “ mr Harley says “though you two probably already know the recipe but good to help guide those who don’t “. Mr Harley continue saying. April goes to grab her book and I go and grab my tablet from my purse bag. Hmmm. Maybe I can see if I can get one for April too. Have to see what classes she has first. Heading into the kitchen and mr Harley has us work in groups. April helps students on one side and I help on the other side. Basic ingredients and easy to make. But it’s the cooking that you have to watch out for. Most of the students are getting a hang of it. Though one female student burnt hers when she left it in too long. Found out she wasn’t watching the time and was distracted by talking to the other students. Guess she is not good at multitasking. I was helping another student at the time. That’s the problem sometimes is when you are trying to help a few people at the same time. Luckily no major damage and was only burned around the sides. Lesson learned for her. For the most part the class runs pretty smoothly. Do see April glancing over every so often. Probably trying to see how I do things compared to how she does them. She does need to work on her social skills but she’s not bad.

The rest of the period goes smoothly and I help to get things cleaned up. Notice that some people are better at doing certain things that others. That’s something I need to remember for later. Maybe can do some training for those who need to work on certain things. Getting back to my desk and putting my tablet in my purse bag. Looking over and see April putting her book back in her backpack. Hmm. Let’s see. Putting the strap of my purse bag on my shoulder Walking over to her “what other classes do you have “ I ask “why?” April asks “well I know you were interested in my tablet and maybe I could help get you one “ I say “what’s in it for you “ April asks. “Just trying to help but if your not interested “ I say before turning away “wait” April says. Which I turn back around. “What do you need to know “ April asks. Telling her what information I need and taking photos of them with my phone. Be easier to send if I have the information already. Telling her it might be a couple days before I can get one. She says that it’s ok. Well it does depends upon how busy Betty is too. Have to send her a text later and see what she says.

As the bell rings I head out of the classroom into the hall heading to history.
